I have known these facts for some time and was waiting for more concrete facts before posting but due to the resurgence of "who is/I found Satoshi" threads decided to start this thread.

There were two people registered under the public name of Satoshi Nakamoto, the original was nakamoto2

http://web.archive.org/web/20091130163943/http://sourceforge.net/users/nakamoto2 (cached page from Nov 30 2009)

Then 2 months later s_nakamoto with the same public name of Satoshi Nakamoto joined

http://web.archive.org/web/20091129020634/http://sourceforge.net/users/s_nakamoto (cached page from Nov 29 2009)

nakamoto2 registered the project with sourceforge 2008-11-09 18:58

http://web.archive.org/web/20090106201347/http://sourceforge.net/projects/bitcoin/

Why would Satoshi register himself and add himself to the project twice with the same name unless of course he wanted to create the illusion that more than one person was a single entity.

s_nakamoto added hal to the Bitcoin project, 4 weeks ago
nakamoto2 added s_nakamoto to the Bitcoin project, 4 weeks ago
nakamoto2 added the bitcoin.pdf file, 1 month ago
nakamoto2 registered the Bitcoin project, 2 months ago

So who was/is satoshi nakamoto?
My original thoughts were Hal Finney but as can be seen from the cached pages he wasn't brought on board till 2 months after, I have my suspicions but need more proof as my search results into the other suspect don't seem to make sense time-wise, I think Hal and my other suspect thought they were working with a genuine idealist. My guess is there is some government involvement as I have stated before, probably UK with some collusion with the USA (alterations to DNS records and cached pages).

The search continues.

None of that means anything, or is proof of anything.

Everyone has had multiple accounts on a site, for a variety of reasons.  Posting limits, etc.

Satoshi was - for lack of a better word - paranoid.  Except it's not called that when they're actually after you, or there's an objectively strong case that they might be in the future.  It's called being careful.  Who knows why those registrations happened?  Not me - and not you.

Ted Nelson, who coined the term hypertext says, in this YouTube video, that he knows who Satoshi is.

Perhaps each Sourceforge account had different privileges; one admin and one regular contributor. An experienced user would, by default, prefer to avoid unintended admin errors. So, this is proof of nothing. We do know Satoshi is clever, so their anonymity is a choice and not one we have much chance of checking. Also, it is better this way; celebrity we don't need, as that brings personality and other weaknesses.

I suspect, given the quality, that it's simply a parallel output from a government project, with all the expected strong methods; references; and quality output. A single mind would produce better more consistent output but it's very likely built on the shoulders of other well resourced and experienced developments. I'd be surprised if the Governments hadn't been looking at what internet money could be. Potentially then it is a deliberate publish too; for all the default to conspiracy, there are good people in government and occasionally they get it right.. or maybe it's a mix of all the above. Does the source matter - I don't think so.

Satoshi could just be a group... a group of brilliant minds that include Mochizuki and Hal Finney.

I still cannot believe, how people dont think that Hal Finney Is Satoshi.

A guy who published a method on "Detecting Double-Spending" in 1993,
I mean come on, the internet was not even invented and he has thought about this.

Interesting conjecture.  From the "Bitcoin and Me (Hal Finney)" thread:

Quote
ALS is a disease that kills moter neurons, which carry signals from the brain to the muscles. It causes first weakness, then gradually increasing paralysis. It is usually fatal in 2 to 5 years. My symptoms were mild at first and I continued to work, but fatigue and voice problems forced me to retire in early 2011.

The timing correlates quite well with Satoshi's disappearance.  Also, Hal would have an old-school coding style consistent with Satoshi's.  I'm of the opinion that Satoshi is a single individual.  There are a number of people from the old cypherpunks list who could have pulled it off.

Definitely some script kiddie that moved on to other projects, cough, Silkroad.

Also nakamoto2 looks dumb compared to s_nakamoto, so he switched it.

Assuming that Satoshi remains more or less anonymous, it will be interesting to see how he/she/they are regarded in the future. Given that very little much is known about Satoshi, individuals or groups could see what they want in the idea of Satoshi.

Nah, the movie completely missed the point of the comic book. They made it into a superhero flick with the dumbest ending possible (totally not the same message as the book).

The Crowd: Yes! We're all individuals!
