I have not joined an ICO that is based on NEO. I think there are only a handful of them for now, right? I still have doubts as to NEO itself. I used to get involved in waves-based tokens but their growth is rather slow. Ethereum-based tokens are the ones ruling the ICOs right now. And I like the price movement after their these tokens are accepted in trading sites.

$15m marketcap for an ICO with so much hype, its gonna moon once it is listed on an exchange. But I doubt, you will be able to buy worth 300 NEO. $1000 worth in the first hour is not a problem, but if it doesnt end in the first hour, there are thousands more lining up to buy.
A lot of people giving up on this ICO due to their complicated wallet and Syncing issues and many other issues is probably good for you.

How can you have any problems... I did the process in less than 20 min, excluded time waiting to synch...

I do agree however...  they should've simply update neon wallet to add RPX and be done with it, but lets go the hard way huh.... dumb decision.

Well nobody is going to do that. First of all, you are a newbie, second of all this is the first ICO on NEO and it is going to be BIG. How big? Like Lambo big! I think it will do easy 2x on the first day on the Binance Exchange! You are welcome to buy some when they will hit exchanges!

You should download the blockchain data provided (about 800MB download), it's an image on the chain of a few days ago. Using this one, i was able to fully sync the wallet in about half an hour, and my internet connexion is very slow
