Ok so I have this very old address in blockchain.info which had a bit of bitcoin in it and I am trying to get the BCC from it too.

I can verify the BCC is on the address so I figure I can import the private key into a BCC wallet and get the BCC right? wrong.

Everytime I try to import the wif private key, it kept failing saying it had nothing in it.

I try to import the private key into a BTC wallet and I get a totally different address. An address with nothing on it.

So at this point i'm like wtf is going on.

I go back to blockchain.info and import the same private key, same issue, totally difference address, nothing on it. private key is worthless, and is showing up in blockchain.info under 2 difference addresses.

driving me nuts. I can spend btc from that address in blockchain.info but I cannot get the acutal private key and its not part of the main wallet so it is not backed up so I cannot export it.

hate that website so much right now.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Have you tried importing it to bitcoin core, electrum etc. to see what that give you? It the blockchain address you are exporting the private keys is old, from the imported addresses? you shouldn't find a problem in those. I would go with coinomi android wallet to import the BCH If I were you, I know it works 100% so If you don't see your balance there, you know for sure that the problem is coming from the Blockchain export option.

This is some sort of bug on blockchain.info wallet. Can I ask if what character does your private key starts? If it's 52 characters that start with L and K then your public key is compressed, so all you need to do is uncompressed it so that you can get the 51 characters private key which starts with '5'. To uncompress it go to bitaddress.org and download the site, you can see the link below (GitHub repository link), run the site offline, and go to 'Wallet Details' paste your private key that starts with L or K, then get the uncompressed private key that starts with '5'.

Starts with an L in the WIF format.

I have tried importing the private key into android wallets in both core and BCC and it says nothing on it which is correct if you look at the top address. The bottom address has the BCC that I can see with blockchair.

Thank you guys for the responses. I was thinking there might be a way workaround to force the address to become part of the blockchain.info wallet. or manually pull address somehow another way.

That's great dude, hope it helps a lot. Now you can trade your BCC in bittrex.
BTW my BTC address is on my profile, you can click my username, or just simply here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=765632

EDIT: Received it, thanks man. Smiley
