Hi Guys!
Long time reader - first time poster.
The selection of just *what* hardware to use for Ethereum (or any altcoin) mining seems to have come up a lot. I have personally mined Ethereum for several months and built on, and perfected my rig. i started with just one GTX1060 6Gb 8Ghz - experimented with some AMD cards and lower end Nvidia cards. I now run a rig of 7 GTX1060's at a hashrate of between 140-150Mh/s.
The question on what hardware to use has never been simple, i think many people purely look for the highest hashrate with little regard for cost of the hardware, power consumption etc. etc. So to make a long story short a friend of mine came to me about setting up his own rig. To demonstrate the pros and cons of each card i threw together a basic spreadsheet with the higher end Nvidia cards in it (as thats what i prefer personally) comparing power usage and cost, cost per mh/s, hashrates etc. to help him make an informed decision. He found it extremely useful and suggested i post it.
So i have added some AMD cards - there are a total of 10 cards now and i hope with some suggestions from you guys (if this is something you think would be useful) - i hope to expand it and make improvements to it to hopefully help people reduce some of the trial and error in setting up a mining rig. You can add your cost per kw/h of pwer and the desired hasrate you wish to get and it will tell you the amount of specific model cards you would need to achieve it, the cost of power per day to run them etc.
The pricing in it is local to me, the individual cost of cards and power will obviously be different place to place, fields to the left of the black bar are completely editable. fill them with info more accurate to you.
Anyway - link to the sheet is here -

Cheers!
Skully.
