Just reinstalled electrum and transferred some bitcoins into it, however i've just seen that its saying 'not connected' in the bottom left and has the red dot bottom right, and shows no history at all. Any idea how to get this fixed? Am running windows 10 and downloaded the latest version of electrum. All help appreciated!

Maybe there is a firewall preventing your electrum to be sync  better to try disable your firewall or antivirus and check if your electrum turn to be online.. I was experience this because i turn my antivirus into high secured and didn't know that also the electrum was affected ..
If this is still not working maybe the problem is the server try to choose other server in tools>network> and try other server..

My antivirus has also blocked it as well.
I just want to know, If its a secure software than why antivirus blocking it to connect online ?

I just want you to know that antiviruses are not always 100% accurate thats why false positive's are very common as I'm sure this is what happened to you. I've been using electrum for a very long time as well as the people here and we can vouch for electrum that i'll not harm your desktop or your coins unless you've downloaded from the wrong website.
This is their official site https://electrum.org/#download. They are signed with PGP signature so you can always verify it.

Generally, the "default" setting for a lot of software firewalls is "block everything" unless it's a super popular mainstream app like Outlook or Chrome etc. And some even block those apps as well.

It isn't that the app is "dodgy" or "suspect"... It's just that the firewall isn't configured properly and/or it doesn't recognise the app. You can't expect antivirus app developers to know of every single app ever made! Tongue

Honestly, firewalls implemented by antivirus apps are probably the worst...

Once you verify the Electrum download and know its the real deal, your easiest solution is to simply add an exception to your firewall (always permit Electrum through).
