I've been mining Bitcoins with my GPU, but find it too difficult.
I want to give it a go with Litecoin mining.
So far, I've downloaded Litecoin wallet and GUIMiner scrypt.
I now have to choose a pool.
Does anyone knows which pool work best with GUIMiner scrypt?

Thanks,
Arthur

I'm with coinat.com
You can actually set pool fee (and donation fee) to 0%, withdrawl limit 2LTC.

invasionnetwork.com
Very low stales (<1%) due to their fast network and Stratum support.
The admins take great care of the pool when issues come about.

WeMineLTC.com and Give-Me-LTC.com are two of the biggest pools. You'll have smaller bad luck periods with PPLNS/RBPPS if you go with the bigger pools. PPS would give you more consistent returns, but the fees are higher, and there aren't many PPS pools. LitecoinPool.org is not open for new registrations, and notroll.in has payment problems. Coinotron.com offers PPS with a 5% fee, while RBPPS is 2%.

There's a list of pools here: https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/wiki/Comparison-of-mining-pools

WeMineLTC seems fair, optional fee and no fee with automatic withdrawal (0.1 LTC with manual one).

Thanks, I am trying WeMineLTC now.
I wanted to try Hypernova because of its CPPSRB system.
However, when I typed in my payout address, everything changed to ALL CAPS. I thought the address is case sensitive, so I don't trust it.

I got very low hash rate with my 7870 tahiti. People say you get 1/1000 of your bitcoin hash rate when mining litecoins.
I got 500 Mhash/s in bitcoins with a slight overclock. However, I only get 350 khash/s with litecoins. Is it normal?

This is a good place to check approximate hashing expectations based on hardware used.
https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/wiki/Mining-hardware-comparison

For a 7870 card it looks like there is a reference to 381kh/s so you may not be too far off the mark.

I would use thread concurrency of 15508, worksize 256, vectors 1, GPU threads 1, Intensity 19 or 20 see if that makes it any faster.

Good luck Smiley

One of my friends has 7870XT.We've tried all AMD drivers, clock settings, high and low intensity in cgminer, different thread concurrencies and we couldn't do over 380khash/s.I have no idea why....and yes, its mining with 500+mhash/s BTC.

So is it still more profitable to mine Litecoin in my case? Or should I switch back to Bitcoins?

Coinotron has been pretty good for me so far. The connection to them was far more stable that other pools I tried.

If you're looking for a good pool or more info on Litecoin you can check out the litecoin forum.

http://forum.litecoin.net/

The alternative cryptocurrencies board here has some good information but has gotten a bit crowded lately with all the new 'alt' coins that have come online.

By underclocking my core clock to 825MHz, I managed to get my hashrate up to 410khash/s.  Grin
