Update - After some feedback the bounty has been spread over several blocks to offer rewards for mining right now.

Intro
Feathercoin is now 143 blocks away from a difficulty adjust that sees its new more fine grained difficulty adjust start working. The adjust was initially aimed for one week ahead but as many miners have had to chase the most profitable coins we have seen our hash rate drop. With our current difficulty we are at 50% profitability so the miners we have are the one who think longer term. The Feathercoin team is working on bringing value and services to Feathercoin so you will be able to put your coins to good use.

Bounty
To get the hash rate up I am putting up a bounty of 1BTC for the miner of block 32880,32900,32920,32940 and 32960 and another 5BTC for the miner of block 33,000.

Bonus Bounty - Pledged by Justabitoftime - 5BTC for block 33k if it gets mined by May 25 2013 08:15:15AM (US Eastern Standard Time)

Unless you are a very large miner you will want to mine on a pool. When the block has been mined we will contact the pool owner to find out the user and if we are unable to identify you we will send the bounty, in Feathercoins, to your FTC address registered on the pool, or add the amount to your pool wallet if you do not have a payout address. I have included a list of pools below.

Bounty Blocks Mined
32,880 - 1BTC sent to ra532
32,900 - 1BTC sent to D2 pool
32,920 - 1BTC sent to zerodrama
32,940 - Feathercoinminer01
32,960 - 800FTC sent to block generation address
33,000 - 9,940 FTC sent to WeTradeCoins

Coinotron
d2 Pool
Dig Feathercoin

The bounty has been spread over several block to offer a more immediate reward for miners. The first bounty is on block 32,880 which is only 7 block away. Hopefully this will make it more interesting for those participating.

So, the only incentive, is for the big guys. No reward for smaller miners, that have little to no chance, of hitting the blocks....Thanks, but no thanks

There are 52 people connected to Coinotron. Let's say that Coinotron is the pool that finds the block, I will talk to Coinoton, track you down and give you Bitcoins Smiley

The large miners are chasing the most profitable coins as they have bills to pay. By connecting to pools we become large miners ourselves. If a solo miner find the block they can sign a message in the block chain using the client to identify themselves.

That's cool and all, but what I mean is, in Pools, %99 of the time, it's the big guys in the pool, that actually find the block

Just pointed about 1,000 Khash to D2 pool.  When FC hit BTC-E I dumped all my BTC (5 or so) into FC and then it tanked.  I really hope FC is going to be around for a while.

So was that FTC price increase due to you buying for the bounty? Tongue

Nice initiative. FTC is facing challenges head on. I am sure this is one coin which is here to stay.

Good luck everybody for the next bounties.

So I've done almost nothing else today apart from slog my guts out convincing people to move over to the so called "dying crypto", FTC, which I've been furiously supporting since the start. Never found a block, personally low hashrate, managed to get around 25/30 people moved over, I even think some of them will stay for good.

6zoXRydx6qodauHjcuJiT7zjm8khWHfepZ - Can I has bounty? You're welcome  Wink

In all seriousness, I have stuck with this coin since the start, well done and I hope it continues to flourish, bushstar.

No, just very keen.

At every stage in Feathercoin, when we have faced a problem, it is engagement with the community that has found a solution. Personally I think this sort of bounty is a lot of fun and perhaps you should join in. I'd be very pleased if you ended up winning on of the bounties Smiley

Are we sure that 32,900 has been found?  According to the D2 pool, current block is 32,900 and last block found is 32,900, seems a little odd?  Also, wemineFTC.com says current block is 32,900.  Not trying to point fingers, just curious.

EDIT: Yeah, I guess my cache from weMineFTC may have not updated, because now it says 32,902. So congrats on finding 32,900!

Hehe, I'm dropping my new rig over this soon, hoping to win another bounty from bushstar (will be the third one I get from him!).

They say if something happens twice, it will most likely happen the third time. Let's see if this is my third time  Cheesy

Just wanted to say, your OP says "March 25", assume this is suppose to be "May 25" looking at the topic post time.

What does it say about a 'currency' that has to give incentives that pay in a different currency ?

EDIT: That was the block, it looks like someone with a fair bit of hash power much have orphaned it. The 10BTC is going to wemineftc.com.

Do you get that kind of address randomly? Or is there a way of generating custom addresses?

Congratulations to all the miners for helping push FTC over the barrier.

That is a neat trick. No wonder our difficulty is higher than expected. Someone with a hell of a lot of hashpower must have come on to orphan the the wemineltc.com block. I was wondering what people would do to thwart our efforts.

So it looks like weminftc.com did mine block 33,000 after all. Congratulations.

Here is the message from their site. So 5BTC to the member and 5BTC to every member. I've sent them a message asking for addresses.

Quote
5/19/13 - FTC Bounty - The FTC developers are giving a bounty of up to 10BTC to finders of certain FTC blocks, YES, we will participate and pass the finders FTC address to them to receive the bounty. For the last 5BTC being rewarded for 33,000 we will be splitting up the reward to all pool members if our pool finds it. Read news for more details.

Still confused: Was it 5 or 10 BTC for block 33,000?

wemineftc.com says: "For the last 5BTC being rewarded for 33,000 we will be splitting up the reward to all pool members if our pool finds it."

wemineftc.com seems to think it's 5BTC for block 33,000 - and not 10BTC, no?

Strange thing: wemineftc.com does not even list block 33,000 in it's block stats page:

5BTC from original, 5BTC from the second generous donor because we beat the clock hitting 33000.

I read it as 5+5BTC = 10BTC that will be split evenly to all members that were mining at WeMineFTC for block 33000.  Or maybe the second 5BTC from the other donor was slated for just the miner.  Happy to let Bushstar sort that out.

The 33000 block isn't listed on there because it was orphaned, but we know the orphan block was from WeMineFTC and Bushstar has ruled that he'll be rewarding the WeMineFTC pool instead of some solo FTC hater.  Makes sense.

+1

I'd really like to see the equipment this hater has on hand!

Generating an address like 6pFeathercoinSucksCBTuauhTGi8cdDCV alone takes lots of computing resources. Let alone to create an orphan at the exact time block 33,000 was due.

Not even Alt-Coin hater Luke Jr. has such resources  Grin.

Hi guys, I wasnt around earlier but if I understand correctly we found the block and have been deemed the recpt of the bounty?  To those asking yes, the plan for the last block was to split it among the miners based on what they did to find the block.  It will use the regular pplns algorithm.

We will coordinate with Bushstar to get the bounty in FTC or if he wants to send it in BTC we will convert it to FTC.  We need to send it to the members as FTC for the obvious reason of the miners are setup with FTC addresses, not BTC addresses and it would be too complicated to get everyones BTC addresses, etc.  So we will just put it in the members accounts as FTC balance.

Correct on all accounts.  I knew it was 5BTC for certain so I put 5BTC in the news article to avoid confusion in case the speed goal wasnt hit.  The plan was to split the entire bounty (which now is confirmed to be 10BTC) to the entire pool as I said in the news (except for the 1BTC blocks which would have gone completely to the miner who found it.)

The fact it was an orphan block is why its not showing in the found block list.

Good job bushstar and FTC team.  Thank you and good job to our miners.  Job well done to all other FTC miners and pools on reaching the fork target block before the weekend!

We had planned on splitting the entire bounty for the last block to the entire pool.  Since this was your bounty contest if you would like us to give half to the finder and half to the pool then we will though, is that what you would like us to do?

Ok what we are going to do is give 1BTC to the finder, and split the rest among the pool.
