Hello,
what are actual sol/mh's on which cpu/memory? And how much wattage they need?

Thanks, Michael

200 watt is stock TDP, you can go lower if you undervolt and mod BIOS in your card, you can reach anything in 120-150 watt range depending on sillicon quality in the card.
After all mods, 7950/280 does 250-270 sol/s (clocked 950/1300-1400), 7970/280x does 280-300 sol/s (950/1450-1600), at least that's my Sapphires do.

I buy my cards cheap second hand and first thing I do I replace their fans with Delta 120mm or Sunon MagLev 92mm/120mm running @7V. Delta@12V is very loud, Sunons are OK. After that, it has to be 35+ outside for them to pass 70 degrees, most of the time they are around 65 degrees.

You can find stilt bios on almost all of the 7950/7970/280/280x cards.

MSI 7970 lightning is one of the best ones, asus cards are also good.

The Gigabyte cards usually didn't need a TheStilt bios, per his own comments they were pretty close to optimised already for mining usage.

The stilt bios doesn't apply to 7970/280x, its only mostly for the 290/290x.

From what I recall, hacking the memory straps does little with the 7970/280x but with some 7950 like the reference one it makes it match 7970/280x performance in ZEC.

I run quite a few Sapphire DualX and Sapphire VaporX 280X cards.  Undervolted to 1.000v or 1.050v @ 900core/1250mem get 270/sols.  This normally results in 125watt-140watt draw at the wall per card on a Gold rated power supply.

I also have quite a few Sapphire 270X.  At 1.000v or 1.050v those run at 75watts at 900core / 1250mem at 170/sols

We have a R9 280X sitting on the shelf here that used to be in my wife's gaming rig. I've been meaning to put it in a rig someday to test it's mining capability but the high power draw has been abit off putting. From what some of you guys are saying, it should be able to do ~300 sols on Equihash with 150 watts just with some tweaking, but no bios mods?  If it can run at "only" 150 watts that's about $1/day in profits after electric, which isn't bad for something that's been retired and sitting on a shelf gathering dust.

Sounds like the right ballpark - ZCash tends to not push a GPU super hard, lotta folks running it at 100 watt ballpark on GTX 1070 cards (nominal 151+ TDP) to still get over 400 sol/sec (vs perhaps 450 for a super-pushed card).

It's a LOT less power hungry than some of the stuff I've done with my Gigabyte R9 280x 3-fan Windforce cards.

150Watts will be difficult at 300 H/S, you will need to lower the voltage alot to get 150Watts. By lowering voltage you will need to lower core.

Plus there is also the CPU+Motherboard+RAM power consumptions. At best you will get 175Watts from the wall with a good GPU.

Trust me, I have a bunch of these and its hard to make them come close to Polaris or Pascal power consumptions.

28nm is old GPU technology.

I think you might be better off mining XMR with the 280x because it might use much less power.

With XMR's recent surge in price it might be a good option to test out.  The video card is long paid for and would go into a system with other parts already running, so the actual GPU only power draw would be all I need to consider.

Has anyone mined ZCoin (XZC) with AMD? It uses waaay less power when I've tested it with Nvidia, but I don't know if it's a viable coin for AMD or not.

these cards needs more power but they are still good at mining. if you have low/free elec u can use them.
