The main is a good password for you wallet (really good with lowercase and uppercase letters, numbers and spec symbols)
1. Click "Settings" tab in your wallet
2. Choose "Encrypt" wallet
3. Set your strong password and confirm it (do not lose and forget you password)
4. Restart your wallet
5. Backup you wallet.dat to flash card or so on (if you don't believe to electronic data storage you can encrypt your wallet.dat to bitmap image, print it and hide in safe place)
