Old ones used to give 1 btc

Sigh..I should have joined the bitcoin world back in those days. Cheesy

Earn 1mBTC/month from faucets today. Hold it till end of 2015. Each mBTC will cost more than 1000 USD then.

Seriously, 1250x for less than 2 years?
Though I have full faith in bitcoin, I don't think this will happen lol. Tongue

I was researching about faucets in this forum and I came across some new poker site that's giving out .4 bitcoins a week in a series of half-hourly freerolls, I've done some research about faucets and it seems like the consensus around the forum is that it has all but dried up. Perhaps this is another avenue for people to explore if they want to get into bitcoins. I know some gaming entities like to give out bitcoins through games of chance like slots, roulettes and lotteries, but this is poker we're talking about, which is a game of skill. The links are down below.

Is the the new form of faucet, perhaps?

faucet - free bitcoin giving websites. Most of them give you free bitcoin every hour. You have to register your bitcoin address first.

Where does that money come from? Ads on the faucet site?
Yeah. Basically you fill the faucet and hope your ad income is going to make a little profit. I seriously doubt it's anything
substantial though, with maybe an exception for the largest faucets.

Used to gives bitcoins out for free to each visitor. IP addresses that receive bitcoins were recorded, so that bitcoins were given only once to each address. It was operated by Gavin Andresen, however it is not functioning as of Jan 30 2013.

I hear the term Bitcoin faucet a lot.  What does it mean?

A site where you are given small amount of btc (satoshis) for solving captcha. Amount of satoshis depends from site to site also the ways you can earn them with. Also, faucets are not recommended as a way of profit (not saying that you can profit in some way, unless you own some big faucet) but as a starting point for the newbies.

Those, who says it's useless, has not mastered the art of using them and/or have enough money/btc to not have to use them. So they see it as a waste of time.

When the Bitcoin price dropped the payouts at faucets went UP. Some of the faucets pay out, up to 550 Satoshi per hour.

When the price of bitcoins was at it's strongest, faucets was worthless.

If this is the only way for you to get any income through BTC, you just have to bite the bullet, and drink from them.

They will not kill the thirst, but it will keep you alive. ^Doink...doink...doink...doink...^

Yup, Gavin's faucet used to give out 5 btc to every IP. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=183
It sounds crazy now, but don't forget bitcoin was worth nothing at that point lol. Tongue

A song came to mind 000OOO Those were the days my friend, I thought it never end...

Just imagine, you sucked on those faucets and you kept all those coins.

I guess, we might say the same, in a few years from now, when 1 Satoshi will be valued at $1 ^I wish^

Faucet waste your time, you should just get a part time job and use that to buy bitcoin directly.

Good description.

The hourly rate for solving faucet would probably be about 0.02$/h. Definitely a waste of time, and the faucets owners make conciderably more money off the visitor's back with the ads and possible scams.
