Want to get into mining - need advice

I would like to try to get into mining altcoins. I was thinking of first getting a single, not that expensive (1000-2000$) unit and see how it goes.
But I'm having a problem finding them.
I've only found out 3 companies, bitman, innosilicon and baikal. With the last being the most interesting to me with all that different algos it supports, but it's sold out. Not to mention I've read a LOT of complaints about all those 3 companies.

What am I missing here? Is this really how the ASIC market is like?
Do the experienced miners here have any recommendation for me?

It is probably best to start with GPU mining, if you have a current desktop type computer which has room for a full sized video card and a 16x PCIe slot you can use that as your base platform to get started. The Nvidia 1080Ti, while expensive (but well within your budget) is pretty adept at mining multiple algorithms while maintaining a healthy hashrate versus power consumption ratio. This is one of the main benefits of GPU mining in that it gives you the most flexibility to change coins, while an ASIC pretty much locks you into the algorithm it was designed for.

ASICs are also hard to obtain, can be hard to optimize and power properly, and have very short useful life-cycles in which to not only ROI but to make a little profit before they become more expensive to operate than the income they produce. While they are great for people with the infrastructure already in place along with the know how and ability to acquire the hardware early and in bulk, for most home miners this isn't usually the case.

Try and search their products on ebay, aliexpress or ask miners on bitcointalk of they have and are going to sell it on you.
On another hand try GPU mining, it's good and you can mine much more altcoin woth it. Also you can see good profit if you mine coins smart + gpu is much easier (for me) to care and it don't has much problem.

either way,ASIC or GPU mining= it all come to a personal preference and the amount of time you wish to spend dedicated to mining!

This is what happens to a new market with a (kind of) monopoly, these companies have a product that you (or someone else) will buy, without a relatively good customer support and without marketing, you'll buy it cause you need/want it. On another hand, GPU mining is as profitable, probably is a little more time consuming but just for a while then its on autopilot. i suggest you look into that first, plus its much more home compatible.

You can easyly buy coins which you are thinking to mine. That more cost effective and silent.

Get yourself a single rx 470/480 and see how it goes, get familiar with the miners and coins. Expand from there

You can easyly buy coins which you are thinking to mine. That more cost effective and silent.

not to mention the investment amount for asics are well not that good, pretty high actually for a piece of hardware you can only use for mining and if and when you goto sell it good luck finding someone that would pay the price of what yall ask. its very cost effective more than you might think, the fact of the matter is that you saying that shows YOU have NOT done your research and clearly want information handed to you on a silver platter, btw mining process is always hot and noisy, if you cant deal with that then you shouldn't become a miner period. funny you think asics aren't expensive

Well i think even bitmain asic miners or any bitcoin miners are also noisy and hot..
If you really want to mine you should need to buy the asic miner that cost mostly $2k plus gpu mining is just for alternative that you can mine with single gpu with not costing a lot build your own custom rig and buy equipment as cheap as possible. .

It could be.  Look at whattomine.com, go to the GPU tab and put in 1 1070 with your power costs.  You can see what you would make in a day.  Then you can model what 2 or 3 or 25 GPUs will bring and make some decisions.  But understand that the numbers you get are only a snapshot in time.  Many factors affect mining income. There are plenty of resources here to help you understand what those factors are.

Trust us when we say that you won't just stop at one Baikal cube.  You will get the mining bug and expand.  Especially if you do happen to get one and realize that you are going to be facing a steep difficulty rise over the next few months with all the other much more powerful X11 ASICs coming online.

Yes. Mining is always noisy and hot. I can imagine moreso with asics and their industrial type server psus. At least with GPU mining you can stick with consumer psus built for pcs that are much more silent. You also dont need to buy 4-6 GPUs. Just an additional 1 or 2 to balance out the cost of running your mobo and processor should be fine. And thats cheaper than an asic!

You can get the Baikalminers pretty cheap on eBay since the the Antminer D3 has been announced. Prices for a Baikal 600Mh were up tp 4000$ before 4 months. Now you can find it for 1500$.

lol that's actually least noisy solution.

a single ASIC, for example, sounds like a 747 trying to take off. Closest idea i can give you is 10 vacuum cleaners running all at once. Multiply that by 5 or 10 ASIC units, so that you have a tiny "farm" and you get the idea.

Mining's not for you.

gpu rigs with propper settings and hardware are almost silent even for home use, sure if you don't wnat to sleep near rig.
no compare to asics, which are more PRO use and need an separate place to place them

GPU's might also have fans which are designed to makle less noise.
I think all ASIC fans just need to function really well and must be very effective. No producer uses extra silent fans for their ASIC
