220v cord for antminer d3

Hello Everyone,

So I have an antminer d3 coming to me in october and I was reading that you will need a 220v outlet for the bitmain PSU to hit 1600w since it is only 1200w on 110v and the miner itself is 1200w that isnt safe to do right?

So anyway I installed a 220v outlet today and I was just wonder what type of plug do I need to get for the PSU because I also read that a power cord does not come with the PSU that is correct right? I've been looking on amazon and I'm just not sure which type of power cord I need to buy.

The psu doesn't come with the cord.
I believe any cord (with the right plug) would work as long as it can handle the # of amps.

(I might be wrong, I'm not an expert)
With 220V, it needs around 6A
With 110V, it needs around 11A

And the rated 1200W is marked from wall with the antminer psu so the actual consumption is lower than 1200W on D3 itself.
With 93% efficiency, the actual consumption should be 1116W for d3 itself.
Then at wall, 1200W.

Can somebody post the link of the cable you need for the antminer? I wasnt aware there was more you needed to buy other then the PSU.

You are correct in stating that the Bitmain PSU does not come with a cord.   It is my understanding that you are also correct about needing the 220V to achieve the wattage needed by the D3.

The common outlet in the US for 220V single phase is the 6-20P.  It looks like a normal 110V but one of the blades is 90 degrees from normal.

The plug you need on the PSU end is the C13 style.

Can somebody post the link of the cable you need for the antminer? I wasnt aware there was more you needed to buy other then the PSU.

It just uses the same cord you use for a pc psu.

You are correct that you could run the L3+ on 110V, since I believe it only draws around 800W.   If you have another outlet available at 220V, I would run it since it can be slightly more efficient at 220V.

Note that the 220V are slightly more efficient but also that the closer to 50% load on the PSU they seem to be most efficient.

It is possible to buy a chord that plugs into your single 220V outlet on the wall and splits into two C13 plugs.  You would just need to make sure you had enough amperage to run both PSU's.

I believe they mean it wastes less power with 220v.
Let's say the psu runs at 95% efficiency with 220V, 93% with 110V.
If the power consumption of the miner(actual) is 1000W.
The psu would draw 1052.6W with 220V, 1075.3W with 110V, from wall.
So it wastes about 20W less in this case.

But the actual efficiency vary by the load%.

Yes, power draw is more efficient, just as ESJai stated.  So if you can use 220V and run a power supply that is not maxed out, you will be using the least power possible to run the miner.
