Day Token - Self Mining - Time Mint

Hi there, I am a newbie to Crypto Currencies. I have been reading and talking to people to educate myself on Crypto currencies. I came through Chronologic looking for ETH donations in return for Tokens. Based on online reading, I couldn't understand what the Tokens mean and how I can use them?
What are Tokens? What does self mining mean with tokens?
