Hello everyone,
I'm not new to Bitcoins, but I just recently considered seriously the idea of starting mining. I have very average expectations and a very low budget, I can't afford to spend more than 150 euros. My actual hardware is useless (3 m/s), I was considering the idea of using a brand new video card on my laptop, keeping the integrated one for normal pc work. Is such a thing possible? Can I "attach" a second videocard on my laptop and have both bitcoin mining and normal pc working at the same time?

QFT.

If you absolutely want to get into mining try to get your hands on asics.

Do some research on the custom hardware subforum: If I am not mistaken I've seen a project there where someone offers to build a USB Stick with an avalon chip similar to the block eruptor but only at a fraction of it's price. In order to get it done though you'd need to get an avalon chip through one of the group buys (last price I've seen is 0.09ish BTC per Chip) and then have it sent to the guy assembling the USB stick. Maybe this is something suitable for your budget.

Flea market Dell Precision 3400: $45.00. ASUS 7850 discounted (it was a return) $165.00. $210.00 total running a smooth 320mh/s. Already paying for itself nicely. Only about a month to go until break even. This may not be possible next year, but it is still possible now.

How long ago did you start?

If it's only a month to break even on 210$ investment with 320 MH/s you must be paying next to nothing for electricity.

That is great! I might plan a trip to the flea market to find some hidden treasures.

I think you may be missing the point.. GPU mining is soon to become obsolete... dont be left in the dust... aim for the ASICs.

ASIC is the best, but is hard to get one (rare auctions, lack of bitcoins when you are new, etc.). For newbies easiest (and more expensive) way is to start with GPU. My default rigs are PCs with 2x7970 (best performance on the market), have 4 of them and 10 more will be up and running by the end of the week Smiley

Yeah, buying GPU solely for mining is not the best idea, but if upgrading ones rig with beefy vidcard anyways, mining would be a good to get at least some money back.

Then again there are the altcoins, been mining some of them for a while now... interesting to see how they are going to pay in the future.
