If you want to stay safe..

You need an official wallet with very good anti-virus. That's the best and safest option.

Did anybody else here try ltc-wallet.com?  The site went down recently and took a bunch of my coins along with it.  I don't think it's a server issue, because when I went to explorer.litecoin.net, I looks like my balance was transferred out on June 26, the night before the site went down.

How can we have toork marked as a scammer?  Does anybody know his real identity?

Lesson learned: do not leave a balance for any crypto online.

From what I've learnt about LTC now, the official wallet it totally safe as long as you are not sending / spending the money. If you are just trying to get coins to see if they take off then you won't loose your money. It's only when you put your private key in that some sort of malware could steal the coins.

People have advised me to spend coins on a totally blank OS (blank Ubuntu / Linux Mint) so that there can be no malware before spending / selling any coins. It's a shame about Paper wallets, hopefully Blockchain.info will support those soon. Of course you can make your own.
