According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Bailouts are for the corrupt "real-world."
Here is a much more accurate title:
MtGox could be in BIG TROUBLE, Bitcoin will be fine.

You are free to appear like a troll, and you also might want to change your title.  Smiley

if MTGox were the only exchange site, this may be true. It's not, so you are wrong.

In the long run, this was a much needed event that in the end will hopefully learn others to keep their databases secured to the max.

Help Bitcoins by buying clothes, technology, books, etc. through people/stores that accept BTC. This will increase overall value of BTC as well as mitigate unnecessary bank transaction fees.

exchange sites are convenient, but not necessary

If you don't own the private keys, you don't own the coins.

This is true. It is best to stear clear of exchange sites if you can. see my signature.
