Is it allowed to use and trade Bitcoin and other currencies in North Korea ? and is there any North korean members of this forum ?
Because I heard even the Internet connection is only available for a few number of people there
Good question. I'm hundred percent sure that there's no one there who knows bitcoin. So even if they don't ban btc there will be no one who'll use it. And yes, internet connection isn't available for everyone and is strictly regulated. They can't even watch hollywood movies what more of the internet access. I'm just thankful that we are not experiencing that and my heart goes to their citizens who are having a hard time and felt imprisoned.

After reading this post, I did some research regarding to the topic. I found that even the north korea being a closed and isolated country they haven't banned bitcoin yet, unlike some countries. There's even a news about North korean hackers stealing bitcoin to other countries and they are commencing a large scale of bitcoin mining operation. I don't know if there's a member here from the North korea but i doubt that there would be one since They're only able to access 28 sites.

I think it is used by some people there, government can't ban Bitcoin as long as there is Internet connection accessibility.
I think yes bitcoins can be used on there but just couples peoples due to the government of north Korea always watch the activities of usage the internet on there and i have heard on north Korea, the people on there must use operating system of linux on their computers due to they can do full control with it than just use Mac OS and Microsoft Windows and the other reasons about security of country.

HA. Man, they like, gave a dude brain damage because he tried to steal a banner. Yes, a banner. What I would absolutely not be willing to do is piss off an totalitarian government like NK; given the amount of government monitoring of internet traffic, and the amount of censorship; I dont think its really worth it to play with something like this in this particular country. I even have trouble, as I type this, finding the legal status of bitcoin in NK ( i thought it was illegal, but I cant confirm that as I actually look). Even if bitcoin is totally legal, given the legal climate, is it smart to have undeclared financial value in a regime like this? Seems like a way to get mad prison time, IMO, even if you have good intentions The kid died after arriving in the US. And who knows if he tried to steal anything - the video was very grainy and it was impossible to tell who it was. And why would such a smart person try to steal a banner in a known totalitarian country? How would anyone buy bitcoin when they don't have access to the Internet and most of the country is starving?? What is the point of the question? Since they can't use internet, no one from north korea can even read your post, much less respond to it.

What I know north korea is very strict in internet connection problem for its people. so how could north korea make bitcoin as their currency, even those who can use internet connection only certain officials, for now they have to use fiat as a tool of transaction. the north korean country is very focused on the nuclear development which is very popular in their country. I think they do not think much about crypto. So until now there is no circle of those who do activities in crypto.

Yes it is allowed to use and trade Bitcoin in North Korea because recently, Bitcoin is legalized into that country. North Korea is now one of the countries where cryptocurrency is legal, together with japan wherein it is also legal. There are more countries where Bitcoin and other cryptos are legal, and hoping that there'll be more in the future.

Not sure, actually. I tried to search it up but it was very vague as to whether or not individual ownership and mining of bitcoin is disallowed in North Korea. I would assume that you are risking to persecution as the government does not want any sort of way for the citizens to be able to communicate and trade with the outside world. Even if it is legal i doubt that many north koreans know about bitcoin at all. Internet coverage is probably less than 1% in that country as well, and they have their own OS that probably isn't compatible with any bitcoin software. A guy did risk it by going into north korea and sending a bitcoin transaction, though. This just proves that btc can be used anywhere, even in totalitarian regimes. This is the definition of the ultimate hedge against fiat collapse, and government collapse.

In North Korea Internet Access Is Not Allowed, Very Few People Are Able To Use Internet Even Government Control Themselves. Without Internet Access Bitcoin Using Is Impossible. Bitcoin Used A Peer To Peer Decentralized System But, Most Transactions In North Korea Are Centralized. So, There Is No Way To Use Bitcoin In North Korea Until The Government Lifted Their Ban On The Internet. Electricity Is Another Problem In North Korea, The Government Controls It Too.

There's no any chance mate. I don't think North Korea will allow this kind of technology because even using internet there is prohibited as far as i know. You disobey, you die. They are very busy creating missiles to be fire in America. Every people the must comply with that kind of government. I can't blame them for what they were doing because America still wants to infiltrate every nations including North Korea.

I think bitcoin is not allowed in North Korea. And I also think that even internet access isn't allowed in North Korea. Also crypto currency isn't allowed to be used. Maybe the capable users of internet are only the few ranking officials. But still I haven't heard North Koreans accepting bitcoin or any crypto currency. The only one that is here in bitcointalk are from the country of South Korea.

North Korea is actually mining Bitcoin as we speak. I read an article the other day that the government or state is investing heavily into mining which is actually very smart and shows they know what is going on. Why wouldn't you get ahead of the game when the price is just $4,000 rather than down the line when it isn't as profitable?

Only few months ago I believed that North Korea is the only country in the world where people aren't using bitcoin. But in recent months I changed my opinion. First of all, it looks that North Korea have powerful hackers. Ransomware attacks, hacked bitcoin exchanges - it may be made by North Korea. Offcourse, usual people can't use bitcoin in North Korea. But I'm sure that their elite can use bitcoins. I read that they allowed to do more than usual person - they buying iPhones, drinking expensive whisky and etc. So, I think that they may use bitcoins to buy that stuff from China.

They are very busy to create a nuclear missiles to make a world war. The government is already aware about bitcoin but because if their strict government policy and strong implementation that's why bitcoin could not penetrate in north Korea. All digital currencies are totally ban in their country, their internet communication are fully monitored by the goverment, and no possibility that the communities will adopt the new generation of currencies because of this.

There is hardly any internet connectivity in North Korea, and there are less than 1,000 internet users in total. Crypto-currencies are banned and almost none of the ordinary North Koreans are aware of BTC. Or are you confusing North Korea with the South (Republic of Korea)? I heard that BTC is legal in RoK.

They are mining and hacking as well I guess because I just saw a thread which stated that some criminals from North Korea have attacked some exchanges in South Korea and stolen Bitcoins so it suggest that Bitcoin is used in North Korea that's why some are attempting to steal from there.
