Hello pals,
Actually I had a question,SegWit got activated thursday, but I see that fees are still the same and maybe higher than the usual.I'm even paying $10-$15$ of fees per transaction which is huge  Sad Isn't Bitcoin supposed to be a low fee currency  Huh

So when SegWit will take effect and lower the fees?

Nobody can know that. Segwit is an upgrade that allows transactions to be smaller, but it is up to users if they want to use it or not. Also even if you want to use segwit transactions you need to make a transaction first to a newly generated segwit address. Also the transactions that mempool is currently full of are nonsegwt ones, they aren't even to segwit addresses.

So it can take some time, first need to empty the mempool and make transactions to segwit addresses and then we will see segwit ones. It depends on user addoption. It could be never or it could be 2 days. I am going to make a guess and say that fees will be normal in a week and half maybe two.

It's going to take sometime until all services and wallets start giving the ability to do SegWit transactions, until then, we won't see much effect on the network. As for the current unconfirmed transactions, I guess its not secret that we are in a war against the people who want bigger blocks. If you believe that this is a coincidence to have unconfirmed transaction just after SegWit (not to mention how these transactions also disappeared when the NYA was made) then I don't.

As shown in this chart, SegWit transactions are slowly taking up. We had a peak of about 4.5% around block 482320. However, the number of SW transactions per block is still under 20.

Here you can view a list of SW transactions per block in raw format.

Some major Bitcoin players have announced support for SW in the coming 2 weeks. This should have a slow but visible effect on block congestion in the following days. Also, Mempool has been recently cleared up for transactions above 10 satoshis/Byte.

SegWit is activated already - nothing to fear now, it just needs a bigger adoption - but Bitcoin Cash is recently more profitable to mine, that's why miners jump to Bitcoin Cash and fewer blocks are being found in the Bitcoin network.
A few days ago when Bitcoin Cash was still profitable, around 95 blocks were found in the Bitcoin network. Yesterday, the Bitcoin Cash difficulty was increased and miners jumped to Bitcoin and more blocks were found.
Only with a bigger SegWit adoption we can hope that the network gets more Segwit transaction and don't cause a big lag when it comes again with finding fewer blocks.
