Error while building smallchange source.

Okay so I was trying to build the smallchange source. I have never had this problem before but now all of a sudden I am getting this error:
"Fatal: Not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git"

This has happened before while I was building the source but usually it just skips over it into building the source. Any ideas?
