I would avoid any that haven't made it to an exchange for sure. Unless they otherwise have some huge potential.  Avoid anything that looks like an obvious pump and dump as well.  Which is unfortunately filters out many of the choices of altcoin.

Yes you have to avoid the achievements that have not been successful in the measurement, some projects are often seen to have great potential, but the result is even beyond expectations, it must filter more altcoin as well.
