Yeah, address based. It could be like:

1 bonus ticket every 8 tickets
UP TO 1/6th of the amount of tickets you paid for (does not count bonus) previously

For example, say you buy 15 tickets in one round (doesn't matter how much you get as bonuses). The next round, you can get up to 2 bonus tickets, if you buy 16 tickets (total: 18 + other bonuses). Next round, you can still get up to 2 bonus tickets, if you buy 16 tickets.

hmmm.. will do some test numbers and see how that works out. This can apply to all non-winners this round. But people better have control of their addresses, because if they buy new tickets from new addresses (because that's how bitcoin-qt works without coin control) then they don't get repeat bettor tickets.

Not gonna lie...I started playing this game because its simple...I send coin to an address and post my id as verification and wait a week. I guess if a bunch of extra bonus stuff gets implemented and I benefit from it at some point...cool. Otherwise, if things get too complicated I'll probably lose interest and head somewhere else. Is anybody gonna miss me? No. But just puttin my two pennies...er...coins anyway, out there Tongue

It's still simple. Just like a real life lotto, you simply buy a ticket (one or many, it's up to you.) Then you wait a week. Either you win, and you get the prize sent to your bitcoin address, or you don't win. You don't even need to post any verification as the blockchain is proof and verification that you got a ticket.

It only gets complicated when you want to figure out the best strategy to buy as many tickets as possible, thereby increasing your chances of winning.

People like to think, when all they really need to do is just buy a ticket, as you can't win a game if you don't join it.

Does that make sense?

The best strategy is to max out. If you can buy 20 BTC, do it. That gives you more than 3000 (three thousand) tickets if you bought it early, and the other players who want a chance of winning will buy more. The pot gets bigger, faster. But you have the best chance of winning. (until another player decides to buy more tickets than you.)

Of course, this is gambling, so don't put in what you can't afford to lose.

I will post tomorrow the confirmed tickets. From just eyeballing it, there are at least 26 or 28 tickets. Jackpot is 0.31689 BTC.

I agree, the rules seem overcomplicated but since I am working on a site for Dabs I'll try to make everything as simple as possible (eg. you type in an amount and it immediately shows you how many tickets you would get).

But still, as Dabs said, it basically is just send money -> wait -> maybe get something in return.
Don't trust Dabs -> then good luck applying all rules to calculate the result yourself. But this is also the origin of the "complicatedness" of the rules: In order for people to be able to trust Dabs it must be completely transparent.

<-- Yes, I am a sockpuppet.

Thank you vlees. I have a sock puppet avatar too. But I have a new favorite game when it goes live (apart from my own, of course.) I can't say yet what it is, because I have not been given permission to announce it, but I'm sure you have an idea because I just stumbled upon it in someone's forum signature.

oh no no...don't get me wrong...I agree that it is already very simple. And I do the posting of the id for my own interests. To be honest I wouldn't know what to do with the id if anything ever went 'screwy' anyway. I'm a miner first and a gambler second...but then again...being a miner IS a gamble really so I understand the odds (more or less Tongue) and I'm willing to drop some change in the pot on the off chance I might be able to buy another used card with the winnings Wink My point was that you all can do whatever you want with the rules and regulations and early buy ins and yadda whatsahosie...just don't change the part about the send > wait > repeat cuz that is what is keeping MY attention. Again not that my 0.03 is much but it adds up quick so...here we go Tongue

...plus I have a lot of free time and get random bursts of chatty energy and if I'm not on Facebook then I'm here so... muahahahahaha

The last one was confirmed in block 241554, so he gets a worm ticket for every 5. But he only bought 3. So no early bird bonus.

Current Jackpot: 0.34689 BTC

Well, I sadly didn't get the 0.53BTC due to some address troubles (I'm honestly not sure what went wrong, I talked to TF about it and he said some things about certain addresses), eitherhow, it's a shame, but could you next time give more time for winners to give another address? Because at that time it was 4AM for me and I only had 2 hours, I mean, there could be a big difference in time with you and the winner. Thanks anyhow for the fun lotto! =)

Bitcoin QT, I know, but that isn't on any of my receive addresses..

Then you should be able to see it. Did you make a backup of your wallet after that transaction? After buying the tickets? If you trust me, maybe you can send me the wallet.dat file and I can take a look at it. You will want to attempt to transfer all your coins to a new wallet first.

Maybe its a change address which is hidden from view. Your wallet.dat should have the private key to that particular address. Try experimenting with dumpprivkey or something. Then create a new wallet (backup the old one) and importprivkey.

If you have a password, you will use walletpassphrase first. Also try getreceivedbyaddress.

For all these commands, you use the debug console in Bitcoin-QT. I'm guessing you are using Windows, but that shouldn't matter what OS you are using, the usage should be the same.

The coins are still at that address, and you sent it from it, so the private key is somewhere in your wallet.dat file.

Try all of the above I mentioned, and if not, ask a trusted person (third party) to help. Finally, if you still can't get it, send it (the wallet.dat file) to me. I was holding on to it anyway before I sent the coins to you.

If you really used Bitcoin-Qt and did not mess with your wallet with any program except Bitcoin-Qt itself you should have received the money (even though "the address does not belong to you", as already stated, Bitcoin-Qt utilizes change addresses which are hidden from the big window).

This is what I'm getting :

And yes, I unlocked the wallet with my password first, point is, this is a backup, but the most recent one. HOWEVER, the wallet had been sent from my old laptop, which was 10,000 blocks behind when I backed it up, however it nearly has no power left and has to go in for repair, so I can't get it to finish, I asked TradeFortress about it and he said it'd just sync further on this laptop, and I assume it did, but there is no 0.5BTC.

Ok. Hmm. You need a wallet that was backed up on the same day you made the bet. I'm sure the private key is there. It can be up to 100 transactions before, and you should have the private key. Or a backup made the day after should work too.

Can you try using jackjack's pywallet and do a wallet dump? You'll get all your transactions and all your private keys.

Next time, do this:
1. buy tickets, lots of them.
2. backup the wallet to 2013-06-17-wallet-lotto.dat or something similar.
3. zip that dat (or rar, i like rar).

Next time you win, you are sure you can spend it.

I'm still wondering what happened. Maybe you encrypted your wallet after you bought the tickets?

Ok.

Pretty sure my wallet was actually encrypted before. So, basically, the 0.5BTC is gone?

I've had trouble with bitcoin-qt in the past but its been a LONG while. Sounds like maybe your using a pre 0.8.0 version which is very very bad 'mmk. So, if you do have an older version...try just reloading the entire blockchain with the same wallet.dat but on a different machine...when it catches up you should have your coin. But ya...big question is...which version of bitcoin-qt are ya using?

I got ver 8.2, the backup was probably from 7.something.

EDIT: Dabs, can I atleast get 0.05BTC for the tickets back? Seeing as this was your fault and I did not receive my prize, nor did anyone else, I expect my tickets back.
