Choosing an Exchange, How and Why?

Hi folks,

I'm trying to figure out, what makes you prefer a certain exchange over another? Do you prefer exchanges like ShapeShift or platforms like Kraken, and why?

I prefer local exchanges over trading platform like kraken, poloniex or bittrex because it's easy to deposit fiat currency and withdraw directly to your bank account through local exchanges. On the other hand Shapeshift is a good platform, trusted and reliable because this company does not collect personal data on its customers and never collecting customer funds into company accounts, no emails or passwords, no lengthy sign­up process, no accounts, no bid and ask orders, although it offer high fees for exchange transactions. How do I choose? From customers reviews obviously, as they are trusted source based on their experience using those exchanges. If you want to trade, go to trading platform, if you want just exchange your coins, go to shapeshift.

In my opinion because those exchanges has a good reputation and clearly legitimate and of course Everybody does, they will choose the fastest way to swap their coins or buying from bank account/FIAT money

How I choose my Exchange
- How much fees they charge when withdrawing a crypto currency
- If signup process is easy and doesn't require KYC will definitely go for them
- I also consider how long I will have to wait for an exchange to be executed, some require a certain amount of confirmations...
- Reputation of the exchange does matter as well!

I shall be controversial in saying that the exchange doesnt really matter. If you are just going in to do a quick transaction and then shift the coins out into a proper sap, then the exchange only matters in that hour or so when the coin transfer and transaction occurs.

Nobody should be sitting their coins on an exchange longer than a couple of days.

I registered with Kraken for my first exchange because they have a german bank account where you send your funds to. This gives me a pretty secure feeling, way more than sending money to Singapore or the Bahamas or where ever.

about good exchange, if altcoin exchanger iam chose bittrex and poloniex, because big volume transaction , and much altcoin support in there
about bitcoin pair fiat money, iam use local exchanger in my country
