Hey guys, I am new to mining. I got everything setup but when I turn on the motherboard, I get the "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key".

I got the Asrock H81 Pro BTC motherboard, I looked up online and found that you enter BIOS by pressing F2 upon boot. I have tried that but nothing. Sad

What could be the problem?

Thanks in advance for all the help.

And my monitor is not turning on after I hook up my GPU into the motherboard? It's working fine if I don't place the GPU.

Try connecting it to the 1st 1x slot using a riser. Once in the Bios disable the onboard video.

Nope, it's not turning on. And I tried hitting the delete key repeatedly, but same old message still. Do I need to hook up any special cables to my monitor, all I am running from my monitor is the power cable and VGA cable to the motherboard.

Once you connect a GPU to the motherboard it should disable the onboard video. Plug the monitor in to the GPU.

Stupid question but, is your HDD mounted properly? The following error means that it cannot find any kind of bootable device. For the BIOS menu, since you've tried Delete and F2, also try F11, as soon as you power your computer. If that doesn't work either, press ESC, that will show you all your bootable devices.

I don't have the necessary cable to connect the GPU to the motherboard, ordering it rn. Can I run the BIOS without hooking up the GPU for now or do I need the GPU to run it? If yes, then how?

Thanks for the help, really appreciate it.

Yeah I got the 4GB DDR3 HDD hooked up good, it's only one tho. Do I need a 8GB instead? And I pressed ESC but same old message. Can't seem to figure out what's the problem with it.

Here's the list of my hardware tho:

Asrock H81 BTC Pro motherboard which is DDR3.
4GB DDR3 Hard drive
60GB SATA 3
Intel Celeron G1840 Processor.
Seasonic 860 Platinum PSU.
Got a GTX 1060 rn, more GPUs coming in mail this week. Have the risers already.

For connections:

I got the molex hooked up to motherboard and psu.
Power and cpu to motherboard and psu.
SSD to motherboard and psu.

From the monitor, got the VGA connected to motherboard.

I haven't hooked up the PCIe and the sata chain yet, because I am trying to get the BIOS running before I hook up the GPU.

What could I be missing?

Try removing the hard drive. You also don't need the 4-pin molex Aux power connected if there are no GPU's. Since you are getting a video signal and an error message after Post, all you should need to do to enter the Bios is press del or F2 after turning on the power during Post.

I removed the hard drive, but there's no connection to my monitor or keyboard. CPU fan is running tho. And then I turned on the system with the hard drive again and now there's power to the keyboard and monitor. Could it be a faulty motherboard?

I found the fix!

To help anyone, press CTRL-->Alt-->Delete one by one quickly and then hit the Delete button repeatedly and you'll enter the BIOS!

Hey thanks for that fix. There are instructions to enter bios at boot but they go bye too fast to see.
