Does anybody have this card? Can you change voltage?
Thank you.

Those cards are voltage locked. However, Gigabyte has an older BIOS that lowers the clocks AND the voltage, so that's your only option. Check it out.

That is for a 7950, not the 7970. I have the 7970 you are talking about and the voltage is locked. You can flash the GHZ edition BIOS which takes you up to 1.256v but you cannot adjust it either.

How does the undervolting work with the 7970? Did it improve your hashrate? I think I'm at 1.175V... 1140 Engine and 1200 Mem, getting bout 671 avg.

No it doesnt improve hashrate. Low voltage = low temperature and low bills for electricity.

You can't downvolt. With the GHz edition cards you can get the voltage down to 1163mV but it automatically adjusts based on the core clock. If I have a core clock of 1050MHz, it changes the voltage to 1219mV, and above 1100 it goes to 1256mV

I just got a GV-R797WF3-3GD GHz edition yesterday, I had a failed Gigabyte 7950 finally replaced under warranty, they had run out of 7950 so they upgraded me to a 7970.
The 7970 draws about 40 watts more measured at the wall, which is no big deal, but it also runs a lot hotter, the 7950 was sitting about 73C at 610MH/s with the fan at 50% the 7970 is siting at 75C at 600MH/s with the fan at 85%. I can get well over 700kH/s out of it but up over 80C.
I heard that it might be possible to flash the device with non-GHz firmware to lower the voltage which might help cool it, does anyone know about that here? Otherwise I would have to look at a 3rd party cooling solution which I don't really want to do.

I could give you my rom file. I own a gigabyte 7970 non ghz and a 7970 ghz. I have flashed my ghz edition with the non ghz bios and the core clock stays at 1170mv on both cards. It works fine. It would be at your own risk though.

Don't even know why I didn't think of that. You can find it here: I am using F72
