Why do you even gamble?

This post is not intended to criticize gamblers, i am just curious what drives a gambler to really gamble even when the odds are against him or even reach the point where he'd rather lose everything he has than to stop doing his gambling addiction. I said the following because i have seen friends and some relatives on my mother's side literally lose everything they have like family, wealth etc. and only a few managed to stand up again. And some of that few still gamble to this day. And an uncle was found dead from a gunshot wound, whoever did it was unknown. But rumors say that it is one of all the guys he owed large money and never payed. While a friend(not close, just a neighbor) died from suicide because his wife left him along with his 14y.o daughter and 3y.o son. Now, I ask this because i dont get it. I just don't. I mean is it even worth it? If you ask me, i don't know. That is why i am asking. And the reason why i did it here is because we all know i can't ask a gambler with this kind of questions face to face because doing that would mean mean that I wanna start a fight. I mean that might how a gambler reacts to this kind of question. Please share your thoughts on this.

Gambling, its really hard to stop when you're down. Addicted on gambling is always addict you will never stop unless they quit in their own strength. Personally, I never been addicted in gambling I know my limits especially when it comes to bankrolls I already know how to limit my self in that dealings. When you're already addicted on gambling for sure even how many times you tried to quit and how many times you want to stop it will never ends until you decided on your self. I observed some people who already conquered gambling addiction, they are already change now they have a new life and forget everything about gambling the reason why they already quit gambling is because they already realize that their lives and the life of he's family already ruined. Well, sometimes it makes us realized before we ned to give up something.

Sometimes gambling is not suitable to relax, can we still relax if we already losing? I don't think so, especially when we we're going to lose huge amount. Losing money can't be a relaxation. Maybe we can just use gambling to play with our spare time.

i think we can have relax while we played gambling especially if we played with our friends because when we are loss or win, our friends will yell or say don't too sadly or anything and it makes us not too sad when we are loss. some people express their feeling freely without any sadness in their face and they has just fun with this.

But losing money is not fun at all, instead you just play because you just want to do something with your spare time, which is okay even if we lose a little of our money. It is okay for us to gamble if we just bet small amount and play with spare time.

Expressing fake our emotions are too hard to do, but sometimes we does because we don't people see us to be weak and look for us as a loser.

It definitely depends on the person who is playing. In your case, it is different but what I saw most, people gamble for getting money. If it loses again you will be using the deposited money until you lose.
Happened to me always. I would rather win small where I can stop than win big to just gamble again.

Greed is the most infuencing factor that keeps gambler in the game for long and every winning pumps up this emotion. Like you said, the gambler will keep on coming back in search of more profits and this is the worst mistake in their lives. They end up losing all their wealth and few borrow money also. That is why you need a personal discipline when you start pursuing gambling because it's a slippery road and if you don't know how to control your emotions you might end up on the wrong side . Don't juhst feel too happy and gamble your pocket away because you won a fraction of your bankroll.

That is partly true, gambling does not always contribute to negative consequences. There are times when it can help people. Like for example, in our country, the government holds their own gambling games and sites or even gets a percentage over the casinos. Then the government uses those funds to help people that are in need of help. That is something positive.

Sometimes when your mind is unstable and you can not control yourself, gambling only gives you one effect, that is destroying your life. Because if you gamble for fun does not mean you will have no chance to ruin your own life, it still depends on you, if you do not control yourself well, it will eventually be the same.
