Everyone knows what they say about House Lannister in the HBO series Game of Thrones:

A Lannister always pays his debts.

Can the same be said about Tradehill? I hope so but afaik the jury is still out.

After piecing together my old transactions to the best of my ability (including a downloaded csv file of Tradehill trade history as of 7/30/2011), I calculate that Tradehill owes me about 51 BTC and about $271. Now, I might be wrong with my calculations because I honestly don't recall whether I had any transactions after that. I would think that it would be easy enough for Tradehill to give access to old account records, but they have not as far as I am aware.

I can find no email notifying me of the closure of Tradehill in early 2012.

I didn't even learn about Tradehill's closure until much later (bitcoin fell off my radar for most of 2012) and when I did, I figured I would just chalk it up to experience. But when I heard that Tradehill was re-opening, I figured it was time to get in touch.

On April 10, 2013 I emailed info@Tradehill.com (directed to Jered) and have received no reply.
On April 17, 2013 I emailed support@Tradehill.com and have received no reply.
On April 23, 2013 I emailed Claim@Tradehill.com and have received no reply.
On May 5, 2013 I emailed support@Tradehill.com and received a reply from Derek Johnson that I should direct my inquiries to Claim@Tradehill.com. (He was also kind enough to tell me that if I wanted to open a Tradehill Prime account I should click "Request an account" on Tradehill.com. I didn't ask him whether I could open it using the BTC that Tradehill already has in my old account ...)
On May 7, 2013 I emailed Claim@Tradehill.com and have received no reply.
Today (May 22, 2013) I emailed Claim@Tradehill and (so far) have received no reply.

Ultimately, I want the new Tradehill to succeed. I hope that I can close this thread saying that they have sent me a record of ALL of my old Tradehill account activity and that they have refunded what is owed to me. Is that too much to ask?

My plan is to publicize the status of my claim with Tradehill using my forum profile signature, and I suggest that others do the same. If you were made whole I suggest stating something to that effect in your signature (Like: "The fine folks at Tradehill always pay their debts"). If not, I suggest stating the status of your claim, perhaps even the amount that they owe you (if you even have the records!)

If Jered is going to make use of the Tradehill brand, then the bitcoin community deserves to know whether Jered can claim the status of Lannister ... or not.

For the record: I hope that he can, and does!

Does that have anything to do with Tradehill?

Jered once was the owner of Mtgox. Some money vanished..
Unfortunately, MiniTrue did some work here and details are hard to find.

Then he ran TradeHill - some money vanished..

Do you see a patern?

I wonder what he's doing now. I heard about this company Ripple Smiley

I thought mtgox refunded everything that vanished. Just did a quick search and found this:

Jered once was the owner of Mtgox.

When was that? I thought Jed (the guy who runs OpenCoin) was the previous owner of MtGox, not Jared. Are you sure you're not confusing that?

I always assumed Lannisters were modeled after the Rothschilds.. . even the coat of arms are very similar with the lions. Then there is the obvious desire and near success in dominating the world.  (+ cousin lovin)

Never thought of that but it makes sense.

I suppose Tradehill can't be compared to the Rothschilds as long as mtgox is around and retains its dominance. And you know what? That will always be the case unless and until it can be said that "Tradehill, like mtgox, always pays its debts."

This is correct.  Jared has never had any affiliation with Mtgox.

Back when Dwolla screwed TradeHill, and TradeHill was forced to close, TradeHill sent me a check for all my holdings. I think if you have a legitimate claim, you will be made whole.

Today (May 22, 2013) I emailed Claim@Tradehill and (so far) have received no reply.

<sarcasm>
Someone in this forum said that you have to talk to this misterious "person doing payouts for the old company". At least that's what Jered says if you ask the refunds question in a room full of journalists (or in a public comment to a news headline which is the same).
</sarcasm>

Sincerely hope it works out for you.

In reply to someone else in the thread: Jered McKenna never ran Gox to my knowledge. You are confusing him with Jed McKaleb.

Update: Jered emailed me last night apologizing for the delay and saying he would send me 54 btc (the 51 BTC plus the USD converted into btc, rounded up). Still haven't received it but I do believe him.

He also stated: "I've nearly completed paying everyone out but I need to run back through again and check who else I've missed."

I am replying that I would like to see a summary of all of my account transactions to make sure I am asking for the correct amount -- I don't want to ask for too much OR too little.

Will keep updating.

Update: Jered just now sent me 54 BTC to cover the 51 and change plus the 200+ in dollars converted into btc at today's rate ($126 on mtgox) (which is fine by me), rounding up for my trouble.

I still would like to see a summary of all transactions, and think Tradehill owes us that. Who knows? Maybe I used the $271 to buy another chunk when the value was low and he owes me more. Or maybe I made a withdrawal and lost the record of doing so and he owes me less!

Regardless, I do believe Jered wants to make everyone whole and just has lots of stuff on his hands. I'll be changing my signature to reflect this update.

This is exactly why he's a scammer: steal from everyone, pay whoever makes enough noise.

Anyone working with him today will have serious trouble staying in Bitcoin business in the coming years (leaving aside the problem of his own conscience, which would have to be absent anyway).

Hi,

I am in the same boat. I am still waiting for my funds to be returned by Tradehill #1 / Jered Kenna. About 6 months ago I sent an email to tradehill, Jered responded, confirmed my account balance and requested a BTC address so he could send the funds. I was hopeful, however he never sent the BTC funds to the address I provided him. I have sent multiple gentle 'reminder' emails to both his address and the info address.

Has anyone heard from him or received funds recently?

Any suggestions on how to retrieve my BTC balance?

Thanks

Strange. During the second shutdown (several weeks back), I had both USD and XBT on TradeHill. My friendly rep explained that I needed to either withdraw my USD, or trade it into XBT at the current BitStamp rate. I chose the latter.

Earlier this week, I got another email saying I needed to pull my XBT by the end of the month. I replied with an address. About 24 hours later, I had my XBT withdrawn to my local wallet.

Jered and company have always appeared above board to me. I'll be happy to work with them again, should they decide to open up another trading facility.
