I have read one's page on social media inviting bitcoin investors and guaranteed to gain profit at 140% for 140 days by doing nothing. Is this another "too good to be true" thing or scam?Or possible to profit this much?

Yes,it is definitely scam. It is better profit than mining,and you are doing nothing. They can borrow money with low interest rate and take all profit for them if it is true. Be careful!

if people do not understand...then it is scam for them.

you are big fool don't invest in HYIP. 140% for 140 days means 1% everyday and you belive this? you could not find any real invest way where you will got 1% return in everyday it does happened then all people will invested.If you invested you will see your withdraw pending after few days.most of the HYIP site use this trick to hold money for long time.then site under maintenance after few days BOOM!!
beware this kind of ponzi scheme its always feel you bad at the end.

Scam.  Don't do it.  No doubt they will scam some people, don't be one of them.

If it isn't a scam, ask them to borrow 100 BTC from them, then send it back to them and tell them you'll repay them in 140 days from the proceeds.  ;-)

Of course this is fraud. This is 365% per year  The most risky trading brings profit in a year not more than 50%. Most likely it's HYIP,
do not even think about investing money in this project.

Say that you put $1000 into this "investment program" constantly reinvesting for a period of 10 years.

If you put 1% daily into a compound interest calculator (365% annually) and compound it semi-annually (as close as my calculator got to 140 days, we'll work with that), you would have a grand total of $1,048,018,727,008.04, worth more than the entire Bitcoin supply in existence.  If you just left it in for three or four more years, you would have more than the entire money supply in the world.

Say honestly:  does that kind of return, guaranteed to you, in which they don't even mention the risks, sound plausible?  If so, I can't help you and you'll have to make your own stupid decisions.

Before making any plans about investing, be clear in your stand as well make a self calculation about the investment profiting. With bitcoin just holding itself enough to gain a profit, but people without understanding it just get trapped on these scams which just get the amount from certain number of users and runs away.

Thanks to all who answered my question. There are really lots of scammers out there. I'm not a fool yet since I haven't invested on it. That's why I am asking first to this forum if it is true or not. Please don't judge me right away. I am just new to this forum and I still have lots to know especially about bitcoin. Keep your BTC and any crypto that you may have in your possession and don't send any to those scammers.
HYIP's,doublers and any kind of "project" that offers you magical profit in a day or two,is most likely (99%) FAKE aka SCAM.

You will find opportunities but you have to be very cautious. Good luck.

Why exactly are they going to help you make a hundred 40% not just do it themselves? It's pretty much true for all these types of things. If you're capable of doubling your money overnight then don't try to get other people to give you their money to double just double your money overnight and continue to do that. There is no reason to somebody with some secret formula for making money is going to share it with anyone else

People here are confuse about scam and ponzy shemes.
For me scam is if the webmaster takes the money and go away with.
If people participe at a ponzi sheme,they should know that it is very risky because soon or late it will be impossible to earn for investment.

But if you read:
100% profit in 100 days (for example)then it is scam because impossible for a long time.

I have already programmed a fun-pozi shame for free.
Only the first members have earned...
It was to show that ponzi shemes collapse.
Never I have been accused by my members as a scammer because all was explained.

These are called HYIPS.

Something i am only just learning about.

140% for 140 days means 1% everyday - this is very low compared to most of these hyips.. this might be feasible or at least sounds more plausible.

Many of these are offering 8% daily or even more.

I found about them by accidentally investing in one.. although i am actually making some alright money lol.

What i hear.. is if you invest early you can make good money.. like i did.

But eventually.. they will shut down and take everyone's money.

Although some people see this as a game of chance.. you invest your money and maybe your lucky and win.

The people that lose from what i have seen.. will be the people who invest last.. and the people who don't realize its a scam and invest everything they have.

I have put some money into a few of these as a test.. and i am willing to lose it.

I know in fact i will probably lose it.. but i wanted to play around with these systems.. so that is the cost.

Have some fun and fool around with them if you want.. but please don't invest money your not willing to lose.
