What the hell happened to mempool? It was empty for a little while, now 10K

I just can't imagine what has happened to mempool, it's about 10K now, but about noon (CET) it was empty.
Or, it's only the blockchain.info chart that has a bug?

Anyway, I'm really curious, would you please point me to the right direction, where to search for the answer?
Maybe a huge pile of tx's has timed out at the same time? I just can't imagine

the only explanation that i can come up with is that blockchain.info started to "reject" certain transactions.
there is another topic here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2132636.0 which says blockchain.info nodes were restarted but that doesn't sound correct to me because the time frame and numbers don't add up.

the drop is (click on show data points and then zoom in) at 14:06 to 14:07 then 14:08 no node crash takes 2 minutes to restart.
but if they decided to reject certain transactions like those with 1-30 satoshi/byte things could look like this because according to  http://bitcoinfees.21.co/ they will be rejecting 33281 transactions

and the drop was down to 163,941 Bytes not zero. that is another reason i say it is not crash.

p.s. blockchain.info is known for rejecting transactions with low fees! although they are a block explorer and are supposed to show all transactions out there!

I just took a look at the mempool size shown at btc.com, there is no drop visible.
Seemst to be only blockchain.info who shows that strange behaviour.
Maybe it's really a rejection of transactions with small fees.
But what I really don't understand is that the size of the mempool on blockchain.info is increasing while it stays constant on btc.com.

What is strange (and not really understandable for me) that according to this chart, most of the transactions (69K) are sent with a fee under 20 sat/B

Seems like only a few transaction are over the 20 sat/B fee limit, so I'm not sure what the truth is now.
It's possible that blockchain.info just don't count with those transactions with small fees, like it was mentioned above.
I just sent a transaction with an average 285 sat/B fee (not so high, but defenately not cheap...) I'm curoius what will happen with it, how long will it take to get confirmed... we'll see... but if those transacitons are really sent with so low fee, it's possible that mine will get confirmed in a few hours time. (EDIT: I have 4 confirmations in half an hour time)
I'm wondering, 1 sat/B is also under 20 sat/B, so what could be the fee of those 69K transacitons...

That seems very suspicious, the drop is a vertical line and not a gradual decrease in the number of transactions on the mempool, so something happened maybe there was a bug or maybe something crashed on their end because it is impossible that what we are seeing on the graphic is correct.
