It is not about technology as much as about economic status of bitcoin - which was the first and original cryptocurrency.
The better tech cannot kill bitcoin so easily, we have dozens if not hundreds of coins which have presumably better code already.
So tell me why every new coin with better code is not automatically king of the hill of cryptocurrency?

I'd say 10k - 20k USD might be well within Bitcoin's grasp the next 4-5 years, but I don't think 100k USD are reachable anytime soon. Possibly in a couple decades when inflation has taken its course, but not within the foreseeable future.

However to allow for any significant, sustainable growth, Bitcoin still needs to get its house in order, ie. finally solve the scaling issue once and for all. Right now it seems like we're heading in the right direction, but that's not worth much until solutions such as lightning network are actually deployed.

Either way I don't think any of the currently existing alts will be able to supersede Bitcoin. Not as store of value, at least.

Reaching $100,000 by 2020 is already a very, very optimistic kind of projection...because it is just three more years away. Bitcoin has not yet traveled to the vicinity of $10,000 and even if it can happen by next year 2018 still it is an uphill climb if we think it can reach that $100K before this decade ends.

On my personal point of view, Bitcoin can be as high as $25,000 by the year 2020 and that is even also a very positive prediction because we are not sure of the many developments that can take place within the next three years, affecting Bitcoin one way or another.

Rather than relying on predictions and projections, I prefer to just let Bitcoin do its own thing as I am sure that the trend is that it is growing in value no matter what.

My speculation on what will be the price on 2020 $15,000 - $20,000. Having this speculation is base on what I can see with bitcoin's progress. But anything is possible to happen and it can go fly to the moon and go higher.

It is always too hard for me to accurately say further bitcoin price. We have 2.5 years to arrive at 2020 and there will be lot to change at crypto market, tech market and even real stocks. So its not hard to think bitcoin raise if it stays alive in 2020. As I know there will be one more halving beforehand so its expectable to reach $25k.

Two major events that are happening in 2020 that will positively affect bitcoin's price: The halving, that happens every 4 years and the Olympics that is held in Tokyo that has recently legalized the usage and trading of bitcoins.

Usually, halving will bring around a huge pump, and i would expect tourists to take a look at using bitcoin within Tokyo given that in the 3 years leading up to the olympics more and more japanese merchants start accepting btc which i think will happen.

$8,000 seems like a very achievable figure, which is around 2x the price of btc right now.

I think that a more effective coin will take over and leave bitcoin to the early adapters. I think around $10.000. I don't think bitcoin will go mainstream, but I know one of the altcoins will.

$100,000 isn't going to happen unless bitcoin suddenly goes mainstream, and by mainstream i mean everyone knows it and at least half the world is actively using bitcoin to transact. Bitcoin will eventually hit $100k, but 3 years isn't enough.

These sort of things are impossible to predict but i think around $7,000 would be a fair estimate, looking at how things are going right now. Market is extremely bullish right now, i think that between 2018-2020 we'll see a couple of pretty major adjustments and 2020 will bring the price up once again to a new ATH.

I think the primary reason why you even think that btc is going to reach that high is because btc is growing at an exponential rate right now. FYI, this does not happen normally and you'll see when a bearish market comes by.

The value speculated by him is to much since actually there's a lot of scenario are needed to consider before we can actually tell on what would be the price of BTC will come when that year pass unto us. And I think Much better if we just stick on reality that is happening for now since this one is the real time price and might it will rise in future. I wouldn't give any exact value for bitcoins in future since I don't want to see that I am wrong on the figure that I tell today.
