Can anyone explain why %change accross different markets seems to be different. I mean if i go on polonix and i go on coinmarketcap and look at the same coin, both sites show "last 24hours" but they are different percentages.....
Also bittrex shows a % change on the main market screen that is totally different again. Im guessing bittrex is showing maybe a 30minute change or 1 hour. But it doesnt state and being new looking at yhe in depth graph of a coin isnt really helping.
Much thanks in advance

do not believe what percentage shows to you,
to be honest Bittrex percentage and chart are broken.if you look it closely and do some mathematics you will see it's totally nonsense(sometimes).
for example :
the price hit 10.000 satoshi in a second from 7.500 satoshi and them dump,
but in the chart it will show you the price hit 8.000 satoshi and then dump.
i found it multiple times before and because of this the percentage will be messed up
seems like they can not caught flash action.

so do not believe what the chart and percentage says,you can find a place to draw a chart and monitoring the price.
like tradingview,cryptowatch and etc etc

no it is not broken. what exchanges like bittrex and poloniex show is the "daily change" which means they use the open and close prices.
OPEN price is the first price after the day started (00:00:00 AM)
CLOSE price is the last price before the day ends (11:59:59 PM)
and the difference between them is the change which you can report in a percentage.

what coinmarketcap reports is the past 24 hour change.
that means they use the current price and the price at exactly 24 hours ago.
for example if right time is 10:20 AM, they use the price at 10:20 AM yesterday and report the % and every 5 minutes it will be updated. 10:25 today and 10:25 yesterday.

Cheers for the reply. Ive just opened bittrex on my phone. The %change is changing and updating constantly so it cant be just telling me the change from yesterday total.
At the time of looking its show -11.5%
Coinmarketcap is showing last 24hours +4.52

that is because it is showing the change of "today" only starting from the yesterday's close price and the last price of today.
the GUI doesn't actually show the previous day's close price unless you find it on the charts. the easier way is using the API:
https://bittrex.com/api/v1.1/public/getmarketsummaries

use the PrevDay which is the previous day's last price (close) with Last which is the last price of today or the last order that was filled.
[(x2-x1)/x1]*100 is the % change.

eg.
1st https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-1ST shows -11.4%
"PrevDay":0.00015153
"Last":0.00013421
%= -11.4%

PrevDay is changing every few sec.
Take a look at
https://bittrex.com/api/v1.1/public/getmarketsummaries
and refresh page after 1 min and you will see different PrevDay
