Hi all,

I need your help to restore old multibit wallets I have in cold storage.

Multibit classic enables me to export my private key, what I did. I save a file named ___.key. I try to import it in electrum, but I don't arrive to do it ... (private key file seems to don't have the required format) ? Is there a special procedure ? Does Electrum support Multibit classic private key ?

Thanks for your help,

Ju

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

You can't import the .key file directly... especially if you put a password on it.

You need to export the keys WITHOUT a password, then you need to open the .key file in a text editor... and copy/paste just the private keys into Electrum. They start with a "5", a "K" or an "L"...

NOTE: doing this increases the risk of exposure of your private keys... I suggest doing this OFFLINE and doing what you can to ensure the machine is free of malware etc.
