Karl Popper - Prominent philosopher of science. Turned almost everyone exclusively to the empirical falsification importance in the scientific method, argued that the strength of a scientific theory rested not on what it says COULD happen, but what it says CANNOT happen. Brought Refutability to the forefront of science and helped by way of showing the importance of such to turn Darwinism into Evolution. The climatologists STRONGLY need someone to turn anthropogenic global warming into something falsifiable today. Penn & Teller - Entertainers who did the Showtime series, Bullshit!Samuel Adams - Populist American statesmen. The man who once said, (I'm quoting entirely from memory, that's how much I love this quote) "If ye desire wealth over liberty, the tranquility of servitude over the animating contest of freedom, go from us now in peace. We seek not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were ever our countrymen." Ludwig von Mises - THE Austrian economist, hugely popular in an environment like the present day because of a lack of results from Keynesianism. Jim Rogers - Best commodities trader ever, correctly stated that the 1800s was the century of the British Empire, 1900s the century of the American Empire, and that the 2000s will be the century of the Chinese empire. So far, he's been right. (Avalon and ASICMiner over BFL, anyone?) Carl Icahn - Corporate Raider, a role necessary in a free market to salvage the working parts of a company while selling the inefficient parts.

By the way, I asked if I could send Chris Hadfield a bitcoin donation to his son/social media manager via twitter, but he politely declined as his father is a public servant, therefore cannot accept public donations. Too bad, I thought it was very fitting.

Ron Paul did the same even earlier though I'd need to dig around more to find some compilations of him saying that, he was doing it back when he still had hair

after writing this thread, it got me thinking of how bitcoin it makes it so much easier to donate, and how more likely I am to support the cause or people I believe in.. so wrote this post http://chickswithbits.com/donating-with-bitcoin/maybe i'm the eternal optimist, or maybe there's really something to it...

those people (in my neighborhood, etc.) who are in tougher situation than I am but they don't give up and keep going, struggling, smiling, finding joy in their lives... (and I don't want to be sentimental)
