Maybe.
We all stand on the shoulders of giants - Satoshi is no exception.
The century is young. Who will stand on Satoshi's shoulders?

he has introduced a real game changer, but if someone solves the environmental problems, they will be the most influential. money is important, but not much good if there is no air to breath.

+1 Who was the most noteworthy person of the twentieth century? Just imagine those people in 1913. Perhaps many were thinking that the century would most be remembered for the Wright brothers and powered controlled flight.

Perhaps many were thinking that the century would most be remembered for the Wright brothers and powered controlled flight. I think you have a point there. Einstein (who I think was THE man of the 20th century) published his paper on the general theory of relativity in 1916. I guess back then only a handful of people had the idea of how important and influential Einstein will be. AI is probably the biggest thing that has quite high probability to happen in this century. Cold fusion would be huge, but that's been "20 years away" for 50+ years so I think it's likely I'll never see it.

In theory it's extremely easy. Just limit the amount of humans to 1 billion and most or our problems will disappear automagically. But yeah, I agree with you. Bitcoins have a chance to have quite big impact, but at the end it's just an other form of tokens to have for trading goods/services. And I don't see the governments peacefully giving away their ability to print money, so bitcoins taking off from the ground level isn't that certain many posters seem to think.

Satoshi has already been very influential, and that journalist that spoke his name in a funny way too. When I read Satoshi Nakamoto all I hear is that voice. Sa-to-Shi Na-Ka-Mou-Tou, amazing time to live. Just throwing a little spice in this. What about Santos Dumont? You mentioned powered controlled flight, what does that mean?

lol fuck no. we got over 86 more years in the century. 86 years ago cryptography and computers were non-existent. satoshi was brilliant, but we can't even fathom what advances will be made by the end of the century. kurtzweil predicts we'll have human level sentient AI by 2030. and then we'll have 70 more years AFTER THAT before the century is over. like i said, satoshi was brilliant, but if he's the most influential person of the century, it's because WW3 has made a nuclear winter and completely halted or reversed progress of any sort.

This is a great question.
I think Satoshi may go down as a historic icon/figure. Someone people will learn about in history books of the future. But not one of the most influential people. I feel like he would need to be more actively involved and shaping more policy to be "influential". As far as we know we will never know who he is and he's no longer actively involved with p2p crypto currencies.
Satoshi got the ball rolling, but it's the overall community that is the most influential.

If Bitcoin doesn't go down for some reason then it will become a huge part of our lives and Satoshi might be the most influential man. It's kinda sad though that this man that has then brought so much change to humanity is vanished and will probably stay vanished forever.

I'd say that is one of the greatest things about it, actually. He's like a real-life digital Batman. Gotta love that.

Because he's the hero world deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark Satoshi.
