.
(There is another thread w/ the good news, this thread was the first one w/ the previous update just a 1/2 hour earlier.)

New update, trading again soon...   Smiley

[Update June 23 - 03:45 GMT] T-Minus 23 Hours and 15 Minutes until Launch.

Users with reclaimed accounts will be able to login to Mt.Gox on Friday June 24th at 3:00 GMT (12:00 JST). Once you are logged back into the Mt.Gox site you will be able to withdraw and deposit funds as per usual. You will not be able to trade initially, but we plan to activate trading within an hour of the site being up (4:00 GMT)

Between now and tomorrow at 3:00 GMT you should receive an email with instructions on how to access your account, provided you have successfully completed the reclaim process at claim.mtgox.com.

<Original Post>

[Update June 23 - 03:15 GMT] Clarification on the claim process.

Once you have gone through the first step of reclaiming your account at claim.mtgox.com an email will be sent to the email address registered with your account.
Within that email a link is provided that you will need to click. This will verify that you are the original owner of the Mt.Gox account that was reclaimed.
When we have received enough reclaim requests, a follow up email with further instructions on how to access your account will be sent out.

We don't know exactly when this will be, but as stated previously we will give 24 hours notice by posting on this support site.

https://support.mtgox.com/entries/20208066-huge-bitcoin-sell-off-due-to-a-compromised-account-rollback

Now the timeline is even more unclear?

We don't know exactly when this will be, but as stated previously we will give 24 hours notice by posting on this support site.

Now it is: 24 hours notice to login and not be able to trade?
What happened to 24 hours and then trade?
Did I read it wrong?

EDIT
My comments are based on their previous statements:
Verify >> login without trading >> 24 hours notice >> trade

New timeline seems less clear how soon they can be up.

Optimism is a valuable trait, Oldminer.  Smiley
I'm not negative, just feeling impatient, after 4+ days.

FYI: I edited my first post:

Agreed, we could help build the BTC economy; I have projects to work on, but the Bitcoin Drama can be addictive.
I'll get back to work...

Wait wait wait wait wait. Hold on a second. Have you ever actually watched paint dry? Don't knock it man. Comparatively, watching paint dry is an amazing, transcending experience. It's practically zen. One minute, you've got wet paint all over your walls and then, bam, 2 hours later it's dry! After like a half hour, it gets really exciting because you can notice slight color differences between really wet and slightly wet walls.

Oh dude and the ceiling! That's really the best place to watch paint dry. Looking up at drying paint is like peering into the face of god (if god was a painted wall). Sometimes, if you watch really carefully and the painter was sloppy, you can see a drip. Those are god's tears, my friend.

Painted floors are okay, but it's hard to watch them dry because you have to be on another, nearby unpainted floor. Then you're just not immersed in the experience, especially because the fumes aren't as strong.

One time, I got paint all over my hands and clothes and was like, "Oh holy paint, we are becoming as one!" It was almost like my own skin was reacting and burning to the paint solvent. Okay, well, truth be told, actually it did turn out to be reacting and burning.

I am a little miffed about the plans to reopen trading a mere 1 hour after giving us access.  The site is going to have a ton of traffic, be slow as ass and probably not let me even set trades up.

I thought they were going to give us access for a longer time so we could verify our funds still exist and perhaps xfer some more money in or out.

Good point, i was so happy the waiting was over I didn't even notice.
They did move (said they were moving) to a better host for their server(s), also the back-end is new, so maybe the better set-up can handle it.  Smiley

As bitcoin is global, MtGox must give everyone at least 8 hours so that they have a slight chance to get into their account before trading resumes .
some people sleep sometimes

And ideally it should be 12 hours

You are correct S3052. (Period)
At the same time, many of us will be happy just to see them up again.   Smiley
Plus, all previous orders are cancelled, so at least people will not buy or sell anything from those.

I'm more concerned about getting money in.  This is the only time so many dwolla xfers will be initiated in such a short timespan leading to a crap shoot as to whether or not your funds will appear in time.

I recommend they do the following:

  • Let users in to manage their funds ~ several hours
  • Let users open orders ~ 1 hour
  • open trading

Its quite concerning and on top, here is another question that I posted also in another thread:

If is is true that MtGox has bitcoins  in their own exchange and is trading them on MtGox (apparently the balance even is up to 500,000 BTC)?

Is one actually allowed to trade on his own exchange? If so, the person trading should not have access to anything else than public info, otherwise, it is insider trading.
