I'll just cut to the chase because I'm fucking boiling at the fingertips with anger at the moment. I'd sent $1000 LTC to be exchanged into BTC using shapeshift. I'd taken a screenshot of what appears in google when searched. I'd sent $1000 LTC through the first URL shapeshift.pro - I feel like I've been robbed. It's been over an hour and I've seen nothing.. I'd sent $300 LTC through shapeshift.io and I'd almost instantly received confirmation of transaction over BTC's blockchain. I'm a fucking idiot, I know, you can spare me of those words. Does anyone have any experience with this website? I've now sent two transactions through shapeshift.io and had received bitcoin confirmations on coinbase for both. The $1000 LTC sent through shapeshift.pro is still pending deposit. Who the fuck are these people? The URL is apparently a sponsored ad on google. Who did I just throw away money to? I have confirmation of $1000 LTC being sent here, still nothing from their end.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Shapeshift did not rob you.

That is obviously a lie.  Change the subject on your post.

You are being just as dishonest as the thief that you sent your money to.

I've now fixed it. SO can we stop being pretentious? Did I just fuck myself? Is this a scam site?

shapeshift.pro is NOT Shapeshift.  That is a scam website created by a thief for the purposes of phishing for gullible people.

I feel like I've been robbed.

You have been.

It's been over an hour and I've seen nothing..

And you almost certainly won't.

I'd sent $300 LTC through shapeshift.io and I'd almost instantly received confirmation of transaction over BTC's blockchain . . . I've now sent two transactions through shapeshift.io and had received bitcoin confirmations on coinbase for both.

That's because shapeshift.io IS Shapeshift.

I'm a fucking idiot, I know, you can spare me of those words.

Wasn't going to say that.

The $1000 LTC sent through shapeshift.pro is still pending deposit . . . I have confirmation of $1000 LTC being sent here, still nothing from their end.

More likely they aren't ever going to update it to say anything other than "pending deposit".  They don't need to.  They already have your money.

Who the fuck are these people?

Clever thieves that tricked you into sending your money to the wrong people.

The URL is apparently a sponsored ad on google.

That is a common tactic for phishing thieves.  They know that the typical user will assume that the top result on a Google search is legitimate. They hope that the user won't notice that the URL is wrong.

Who did I just throw away money to?

A thief.

This was unfortunately the first topic I've ever created on this website. Thanks at the very least for being informative. I'm unbelievably fucking appalled that google allows entities to have their websites advertised as the first/second result without even bothering to check the legitimacy of who they're advertising. Just as carelessly as I didn't verify my URL, doesn't it leave quite a shitty reflection upon google's integrity? Do they just not fucking care? At the very least, I'd only lost a little under 10% of what I'd made between the exchanges and sportsbooks in the past month; a mere slap on the wrist. Doesn't change the fact that I feel like a fucking fool--- a very angry one

In my opinion?  Yes.

Note however that they do have a system for reporting such ads and they typically will review and remove the ad once it has been reported.  Unfortunately that typically doesn't happen until a few people are taken advantage of.

Do they just not fucking care?

Apparently not enough.

I doubt it helps much to know this but...

It is a common phishing attack.  It happens with many different services (not just bitcoin related). And the reason the attack is common is because it is effective.  You aren't the first to fall for a scam like that, and you won't be the last.  The scammers are taking advantage of normal human nature, and an the intrinsic trust that many people have in a large business like Google.
