Hello, it looks like I lost my Bitcoin Cash during the transfer of my Bitcoins.
I realize that the chances of getting it back are relatively slim.
If anyone has any tips on how to do this, they are of course very welcome. Wink

But I would like to know how I lost my Bitcoin Cash so that I can learn from it and avoid such mistakes in the future.

I think I lost my Bitcoin Cash during the following steps:

In the middle of July I transferred my Bitcoins to a paper wallet.
In the middle of August I checked with blockchair if the coins are still in my paper wallet. It was also shown that there is Bitcoin Cash on the wallet
I then transferred the coins to my Mycelium wallet.
From Mycelium I transferred my coins to my Ledger S Bitcoin Segwit Wallet.
It worked fine for my Bitcopins, however, I did not find any Bitcoin Cash on my Bitcoin Cash Main or Split Wallet in the ledger afterwards.

Can someone tell me how I lost my coins? (or maybe even if i can recover them?)

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

You told that in the mid of August you show your wallet is having bitcoin and bitcoin cash coins , but how can the blockchain will show both coins. You can download the bitcoin cash wallet and install and put the seed key or private key of the bitcoin wallet then you will be shown the bitcoin cash coins. As both coins wallet are not same.

For anyone else that is wondering, ...

Before August 1, BTC and BCH are the same thing, so sending BTC also sends BCH to the same address.

After August 1, BTC and BCH are different (though addresses and private keys are interchangeable), so sending BTC has no effect on BCH, and vice versa.

Therefore, your BCH is still in your paper wallet, but now you need a BCH wallet/explorer to see it.

Doesn't matter the moves after August, the snapshot has been made on 1 of August, future moves won't affect the BCC balance associated with the private keys

What if one had coins in a wallet at an exchange (i.e. Coinbase) before August 1 and has not touched the BTC coins yet. Coinbase reversed their original decision and announced that they would credit the Bitcoin Cash tokens somewhen early 2018. Does that mean that one could transfer the BTC to a hardware wallet and Coinbase would then still be able to allocate the corresponding (before Aug 1) BCH?

Or is it safer not to touch the BTC before the corresponding BCH are available in the Coinbase account?
