OCTOBER 1st 2017 Updates

  • Going to STOP including the 'Display Box' with individually numbered PROOFS.
Rounds will still come in 4mil bags, in snap-tite / coin-tainers and will be handled only while wearing cotton gloves. The display boxes didn't suck, they just aren't really the greatest boxes for 'displaying' the rounds and aren't really worth the money or the trouble they cause when I run out of them. There are plenty of much cooler boxes and other ways to display silver rounds. APMEX is where I got the ones I used, if your looking to be consistent in a collection.
I'll still have them on the site, if you want to order one with an individual round. 'Rilly tho, there's nicer boxes.

Also, about to sandblast the die. It will be done on November 1st to begin producing the general issue 'barter-rounds', which will be a few bucks over SPOT (more or less based on quantity).

I will personally accept them in my own business for $50 in services, but will not be putting a MSRP on them, as I believe the SPOT value is really all any silver is worth in FRN's.. regardless of what a person values an individual work of art.  So I'll be selling them for LESS than I accept them for..   Crazy'eh  =). /me dr00ls

Here's the APMEX solutions I like best at the moment.

Any minute now you could get one that's marked $10,000 HIGHER  =)

Here's a better image of the SATIN LADY LIBERTY

I know the pixilation seems to make the BITCOIN SPECIE version hard to QR scan on my monitor.
Seems to help if I stand back and capture it from a distance.

Would love to hear any of the community experiences and opinions.
Which one they like better and why and what not.

So.. I guess something has happened here in my absence, regarding images.
I see the images in my posting no longer show.

Is this because my user is a newbie?  or because they weren't https compliant...
No.. I made them https compliant and they still don't show. Must be the former.

BUMMER.  I was going to post an update.
I'll go work on my rep or post history and come back.

BTW:  Due to the awesomely low cost of silver and the awesomely high value of BTC:
1 oz silver is currently worth:

No worries. I don't really try to move them very hard anymore as silver's kinda tanked since minting and Bernards gotten all "BuZz Spacedout" and seems to have forgotten that he thought it was a great idea as soon as he started minting his own 20r commemorative round and has begun talking smack about me to people as if there wasn't a shit ton or saved email correspondence between us through-out the design and manufacture process. From what I'm to gather he's also going to do something with a QR code himself real soon, or something: so it's come full circle. I'm just glad to have been part of it. \o/ -Yay.

The project paid for its the manufacture and what's sold now pretty much just covers the site hosting and conversion site use. If you'd like any, there are built-in quantity discounts listed on each types product page. The CART also accepts tons of ALTCOINs for payment using coinpayments.net - They're all still the highest quality mint conditions (see gradings in-line here from other users) & Thanks for looking.

Ok, so this is how it shook out.
-If anyone has any corrections or opinions, I welcome that sorta shit.
Maybe you know all of this but here's a little extended provenance on the history of this round.

You probably know Bernard von NotHaus' story.. If not -I hate you and I have no idea why you give a shit about Bitcoin. People that trade bitcoin for government FIAT really piss me off.. but I digress. So anyhow.

In 2012-2013 a cat named Joseph van Perling took a chance and leased the rights to create a New Liberty Dollar. Josephs round looked a lot like Bernards on both sides, even carried the 888.LIB.DOLLAR phone number, but he removed the DOLLAR SIGN and the relative value.. just selling the round for a few bucks above spot.

Joseph then created a non-Liberty Dollar called the 'Bitcoin Specie' which carried a QR code on the back and linked to a URL that worked in the same manor as the round I made.. Only problem with his 'Bitcoin Specie' is that Joseph is the kind of guy who makes a lot of sites and they seem to go-away after a time.. so I knew it would eventually happen to the QR conversion page he was running - making the coin pretty but useless commemorative of itself. Still a super great idea and I loved it while it lasted. But I have a problem relating values so I felt that I REALLY NEEDED that page to work FOREVER!!

I wanted to re-create a silver art round that would FOREVER remind me what the SPOT value of 1oz .999 silver was worth: except not only in USD, ..Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Monero, DASH and Etherum; all crypto currencies.

So I'd been stacking rounds for a while.. but it's hard to find worthy art rounds, and creating a worthy round is expensive. I didn't want to design some piece of garbage 2D trash round.. I wanted something that I would actually buy in quantity - if only just for my own horde. If others wanted them, then of course I'd be happy to sell them, but they're really just my own personal treasure..

Joseph had already 'Ripped Off' (I say lovingly) the 'Liberty Dollar' with his 'New Liberty Dollar'. (I myself purchased 100oz of them from him).. so why not rip off his 'Bitcoin Specie' AND Bernards 'Liberty Dollar' at the same time.. with my own creation.

The 'Crypto Dollar' an Altcoin Specie was born. ..but what was it going to look like?
The 20yr Anniversary of The Liberty Dollar was approaching and Bernard seemed to have gone dark so I wrote Bernard and he agreed to license the obverse 'Lady Liberty' image for my project then I began designing the reverse with the QR code. Ever designed a 1oz round?.. it's a lot of work only to find that: while beautiful.. The point of the round (the embedded QR code) doesn't work very well. *May as well do it up* and pay homage to both 'Liberty Dollar', 'Bitcoin Specie' as a crossover: so I had them test mint 100 PROOFS just to see how well it worked.. 'eh - not TOO bad.. but a pain in the ass scanning 20 times to get the QR code to hyperlink to the conversion page.. So I had North American Mint number them 001-100 and went back to work re-designing the reverse as a 'Liberty Dollar' 'Altcoin Specie' crossover.. after all I was now converting SPOT into more than just Bitcoin (Josephs round only converted SPOT to Bitcoin). When the next came out the QR was simpler and scanned a whole lot faster so we minted 200 PROOF of them and numbered them 101-300. There were now 300 individually numbered 'First Strikes'. No doubt that soon DIE would begin to show wear so I had North American Mint strike 400 PROOF ALTCOIN SPECIE rounds to have a horde of my own and had them sandblast the Obverse DIE and BOTH the versions of the Reverse dies so that no more of either could ever be made as PROOF versions: My father requested 40 of the now-satin finish 'Bitcoin Specie' rounds and I have been minting satin 'Altcoin Specie' rounds as requested for sale.

RECAP:
100: (Numbered 001-100)  PROOF BITCOIN SPECIE - Liberty Crypto Dollar / Altcoin SPECIE rounds
200: (Numbered 101-300)  PROOF ALTCOIN SPECIE - Liberty Crypto Dollar / Altcoin SPECIE rounds
400: (NOT-Numbered)  PROOF ALTCOIN SPECIE - Liberty Crypto Dollar / Altcoin SPECIE rounds
40:  (NOT-Numbered)  SATIN FINISH BITCOIN SPECIE - Liberty Crypto Dollar / Altcoin SPECIE rounds
      My Dad owns all those
300+: (NOT-Numbered)  SATIN FINISH ALTCOIN SPECIE - Liberty Crypto Dollar / Altcoin SPECIE rounds

In the end.. it's really not important to me that anything follows common standards of numbering 001-300 .. or that they're satin or proof.. or that anyone even ever buys them. The real important thing for me is that it paid for itself and that I foster a better mental correlation between the value of ONE OUNCE silver to various altcoins.. and to a minor degree the US Dollar, as in my opinion the US Dollar is garbage ..and altho I like precious metals: There can only ever be 21m Bitcoin ..84m Litecoin.. and so on for the other crypto-currencies. The very nature of a shared ledger (block-chain) currency is immutable. The value of it is set by the very fact that in order for the number of 'coins' in circulation to be inflated it would require that 51% of it's users all agree, not only to do it.. but on what to inflate it to: AS IF & which would require a programming fork and spawn a completely new concurrent currency that may or may not catch on or be used.

One day we will mine space rocks and precious metals will be abundant but you will never find anymore Bitcoin.

THE END?

Thanks, Bernard von NotHaus & Joseph van Perling for leading the way and the inspiration.

Didn't realize that BVH had taken notice of these. Have you able to work things out with him since this post?
Oh yea, BVN was aware from the beginning. We spoke for months back and forth before, during and after. I licensed the use of the physical plaster master sculpture to reduce @ coin size to create one die, directly from him - as a result of regular communication. We talked a lot about fonts and wording - proof and satin finish, counter stamp markings. Mostly by email, but even voice chats that seems to all go well.  I first approached him it was 2017 and he agreed to the idea with no expiration window. We didn't get to the minting process until 2018 and he's gone so far as to state we could license the image in a later project for another fee.

Mr. B was writing a book as 2018 approached, but was outwardly warm to this project filling the commemorative niche:

Quote from: Bernard von NotHaus (Sat, 24 Jun 2017 email)
>> Using the 2018 date is very good as that is the 20th Anniversary of the Liberty Dollar and it gives you time to market your Crypto Dollar this year for Christmas etc... and all of next year too.

But when I approached him a couple of months ago (Late 2019) his tune had soured on points completely foreign to our conversations and several people have since mentioned that he's bitter.

And yes, they did come out with a 20 year anniversary round. All though, it did not feature/use a QR code.

Indeed. Near the end of the 20th Anniversary year, BVN created The Liberty Dollars' own commemorative piece.
http://liberty-dollar-20th-anniversary.mybigcommerce.com/ but as for the QR code, I think I recall him saying he had plans for a future QR coded round.

IMHO: Kinda looks to me like they're using his 2018 Commemorative round as the metal to back the ETH Token for the vault examinations: My opinion after comparing the images used on the LD2 site background with the image used on BVN's own 20th Anniversary commemorative coin site above. Maybe that's what's behind the FUD 'AltCoin Specie' supporters are reporting having experienced toward me from him, I dunno. God love'em, maybe he's just got the reefer madness.

They decided instead to make it a "cryptocurrency" and make it a an ERC-20 token on the ETH blockchain https://etherscan.io/token/0x2f5cdc81a729b750f3b733cb95660e788441c71e

They did mint 1oz silver rounds as well called "Liberty Dollar 2"   https://ld2coin.io/
"LD2 IS AN ASSET-BACKED CRYPTOCURRENCY THAT FACILITATES VAULTED, PHYSICAL OWNERSHIP OF REDEEMABLE PRECIOUS METALS AND REAL-TIME TRADING OF THOSE ASSETS."

Ah yes.. The LD2 : 100% backed by precious metals ETH token(s). https://ld2coin.io/timeline/

LD2Z: Vault Examinations:
May 7, 2018       Number of one troy ounce .999 fine silver coins 9,820
January 21, 2018   Number of one troy ounce .999 fine silver coins 5,000
June 2019    Sunshine Minting completed relocating metals to Las Vegas, NV. New auditor acquired.
January 21, 2020   Number of one troy ounce .999 fine silver coins 4,900

From etherscan
Total Supply: 4,900 XLDZ
Holders: 3,437 addresses
Transfers: 3,507
Last transaction: 43 days 13 hrs ago

I have a minor invested interest in that.
I'll support anything that remains an uncorrupted asset-backed settlement instrument.
Sure it ain't cheap to vault up 5,000 ounces and regularly audit/examine.

Looking back, I'm exceedingly pleased to have been able to have been granted
an ability to intermingle with such a historically epic thing.
LONG LIVE THE LIBERTY DOLLAR!

Sure, I bet it fits nicely onto a small wire mesh enclosed, locked shelf somewhere behind an access-controlled door in some mint someplace.. It's probably baged and tagged and just sitting there; but that's the procedure of vault/warehousing metals. Like a mini Fort Knox for small treasures.  Someone goes back there once a month and runs an audit to count and report it ever month because it's the physical metal that backs the LD2 token.

https://ld2coin.io/vault-examinations/

I doubt it's expensive, but it sure ain't cheap when you consider the man-hours and shelf space at the mint. As for why: It's in the white paper that it'll be regularly inspected, and accounted, for so that its traders don't have to worry that there's no gold in Fort Knox.

https://ld2coin.io/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/LD2_White_Paper.pdf
Quote from: LD2 WhitePaper
LD2: The cryptocurrency for a new value-stable paradigm by Steven Brendtro and Extra von NotHausAbstractLD2 is an asset-backed cryptocurrency that facilitates vaulted, physical, ownership of precious metals and the real-time trading of physical precious metals. LD2 embodies the spirit, methodology, principles, and community of the Liberty Dollar currency. The management of LD2 LLC leverages years of operational and1market experience from Liberty Dollar, which issued over $50 Million USD of silver and gold into circulation through its physical and digital, private alternative currencies. Building on this predecessor, LD22aims to function as a “stablecoin” – a globally liquid, value-stable, low-volatility cryptocurrency, without a central bank, that’s 100% backed by, and 100% redeemable at any time, in precious metals.3The LD2 cryptocurrency is a blockchain-based digital warehouse receipt, issued by [ISSUER], with the4precious metals backing on deposit with the [DEPOSITORY], and the [AUDITOR] providing a monthly examination of all holdings. The [AUDITOR] works on behalf of the token holders to verify that all issued tokens are backed by the prescribed amount of precious metals. This third-party vaulting verification and independent auditing ensure that there is exactly one troy ounce of the physical precious metal in the vault for each token issued, at all times – independent of token ownership. As a digital warehouse receipt, every LD2 token is fully redeemable through the [DEPOSITORY] for its precious metals backing. Physical redemption not only structures LD2’s economic and value proposition, but builds trust with token holders, something badly needed in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Sure it ain't cheap to vault up 5,000 ounces and regularly audit/examine.

What?  that would fit into a suitcase... 50x 100oz bars don't take up much space... 5000x 1oz coins wouldn't take up much more room than that.
Why would someone pay to "warehouse/vault" this?  Seems like an unneeded cost

True.. the ORIG. Liberty Dollar was backed by millions of dollars or silver in a safe in the back of their own facility ..whether anyone did regular audits I don't know, but the FED sure did when they confiscated it all and fucked up that poor mans life. He's since gotten it all back, and I do find it odd that the LD2 is only backed by 4900.oz .. but that's a topic for another thread.  Roll Eyes
