USPS Says buy law you can only send $15 if you do more up to 5 years in jail + Misdemeanor

Don't wanna hijack the thread, but citation needed because I hate when misinformation, FTA:

Money (currency / cash) that is sent through the mail can be insured up to its value, within the stated limits:

Except for Registered Mail, the maximum indemnity for negotiable items (defined as instruments that can be converted to cash without resort to forgery - such as money orders), currency, or bullion, is $15.00
For Registered Mail™ items, including money, the maximum insured value is $25,000
An item worth more than this must still be declared at full value, but the maximum insurable limit is $25,000, customers wanting additional information (including pricing) for an item valued above $25,000 should be referred to their local Post Office..

You are quoting a 10 year old policy that is no longer in place and you are quoting it from a third party site.  As I pointed out (and have linked in my sig) there is NO SAFE WAY to send CASH through the mail.  I'm happy to fill this thread with the logic.  Not sure why you guys keep trying to do this without warning the community of the incredible danger.

safe is one thing. I was addressing the claim that it was illegal. It is not. That was my only point. As for a third party site use this: http://faq.usps.com/adaptivedesktop/faq.jsp?ef=USPSFAQ and type "cash" in the search box.

Oh, it's PERFECTLY legal to send cash through the US mail.  It's just un-insurable in any reasonable way.

I've been thinking about this and I am going to talk to JohnK.

It seems to me if the only problem I'll face is that the "receiver" might be unwilling to work with the postal inspector then I *might* be protected because JohnK could DEMAND that the receiver participate in the investigation.  If I can constuct that deal with JohnK I can send you both (pyrex and jourg) cash.  So let me investigate that a bit and I'll be back to you.

I'm glad to do escrow.  I just need the two parties to confirm the terms of the deal.

How the two parties choose to transact is up to them.

I will hold coins as proof of ownership/and guarantee of delivery.

Once I have confirmation completion of deal terms of both parties  I'll release coins to the receiving parties.

(and I don't think pyrex is a scammer - as has been suggested to me and I've seen posted in the Scammer thread)

Pyrex.  Don't let me know or I'll come after you with a VENGEANCE!

That's awesome that you'll provide escrow.  I'm all in.

Pyrex:

1) I am willing to ship through any shipper you choose
2) I will film/video/photo myself putting money in envelope and dropping off
3) Package will be sent signature required
4) BCB will immediately release BTC to me upon my production of tracking info

I will buy your Bitcoins from you.

I won't send cash but I can send you the next best thing, a money order!

You can cash it nearly anywhere or deposit it to your bank.

I'll buy any amounts from 200$ - 5,000$.

I am an incorporated LLC in the USA so you have nothing to worry about.

My rate would be mtgox last + 25%.

So 1250 USD in Bitcoin, you would receive 1000$ USD in the form of a money order.

fine, Pyrex, then let's make it something insurable.  like I said you cannot construct a deal where is send you cash and it is insured.  I'm not trying to scam but I am not going to gamble either.  why would anyone send you cash without it insured so you can say the envelope is empty?

you propose a reasonable alternative.

If I get the cash, you get your BTC. It's a very slim chance that your package will be stolen for USPS employees.

I cannot take the risk of the "slim chance" that the package will be stolen unless that "slim chance" equals "zero chance" and since it does not I suspect you will not find anyone willing to meet your terms.  There is no reason to use an escrow agent because you are asking someone to send first with no insurance.  Adding an escrow agent to the mix makes the gamble more expensive and offers no protection in this model.

If you send first with btc and you take all the risk you will build your reputation quickly.  What you are asking is just too risky since the money cannot be insured against theft or loss.

Is there some reason you will not take money orders or a cashiers check or a foreign currency? (Which are all insurable).

I am waiting for BCB to take my BTC, never had any problems with him via cash in mail.

Yea, but that's just luck.  (I am not implying either person is a scammer, I am stating that they are lucky the money arrived).

I would suggest vacuum sealing any dollars going into the us postal system. Also you will want to put it behind several layers of opaque paper.
