Lifelike Portrait Drawing in Pencil - Hand Drawn by Me

Prices range from $150 to $1000, depending on final size

(includes free UPS Ground shipping inside USA; international is $15 extra via Fedex)

I'm offering my service to hand draw any portrait, from a photograph, that you send me.   I do all my work on only the highest quality Strathmore cotton papers which really help bring the drawings to life.  Everyone that has seen my drawings has loved them. Honestly, I have seen better by artisans of this craft, but I believe mine are really good and much more affordable.

Basic Sale Terms of a Project:

1.)  Before anything is started, I must approve the picture you provide.  I need a good high resolution photo in order to get good detail; cell phone pictures and full body shot pictures normally don't work to well. I really need a good head/shoulders shot. However, you can send me what you got and I can see if it's doable. No need to re-size any pictures, larger the file size the better. PM me here or email me a link to a hosted picture.

2.)  I only draw people, I do not draw pets at this time. (I don't want to charge for something I'm not sure will turn out good as I never really draw animals)

3.)  Price is for one portrait head only.

4.)  You get full ownership rights to the drawing, however I reserve the right to use it in any of my future portfolios as reference to my work (including this forum listing).

5.)  I will not sign my name anywhere on the drawing that shows where it came from.

6.)  Once started, I can usually finish a drawing in 1-2 days, however please plan ahead if this is a time sensitive gift and let me know.

7.) No payment up front required. However, once completed, I will send you a watermarked photo of the completed drawing to confirm it's done. Then I require full payment before I ship the drawing.

8.) All drawings will be packaged well to avoid damage.

Any questions, concerns, comments..ask away!

Giving your thread a bump because I am impressed by your talent. Would you be willing to try a drawing based on a combination of illustrations, written descriptions, and digital renderings (from Sims 3) rather than from a photograph? I realize working from other sources is a whole different can of worms than using a reference photograph, but I am a writer and roleplayer and would be interested in seeing some of my characters drawn in a lifelike fashion.

The problem with what your asking is usually an artist would go out and find a real life reference to match your possible descriptions, which is what I would probably do.  Drawing from just pure plain scratch is nearly impossible to get it looking lifelike (to a point I think you would accept it), it's just weird how human portraits work like that.

To give you kind of an idea what I'm talking about, some of the best portrait artist in cities work for the local police/FBI as sketch artist.  For obvious reasons, they can't use any reference other than the witness/victims description and you see how "lifelike" those drawings are; they're not that good.

Now I'm sure there may be someone who comes along and says I'm wrong, but for me at least, this is just how it is for now. On the bright side, if you don't mind me finding a point of reference of some sort, which would be really easy for me, you can email me with what information you got and I can see what I think I could do.

Thanks.

So I broke down and did a dog for this lady from a real grainy cell phone picture.   However, this dog passed away late last year and so it was all she had photograph wise. Turned out decent I think..

(please bear in mind I was working with limited detail picture, this is the only dog I can ever remember drawing, and all my drawings look a little less detailed when I take pictures of them)

BTW--I have also lowered my price and due to some people's concerns via email, I no longer require any upfront payment.

Thanks

Protip: You can use http://btcticker.appspot.com/ to convert Bitcoin price to USD automatically, so you don't have to write "roughly $65 USD based on current price".

Nice art btw.
