How long do you think the bear market will last? I need to find a way to forget about bitcoin so I can get back to work, its really distracting not looking at the price every hour or so.

This bear market that you're pointing out will be brief (maybe 2 weeks to 1 month) as this is only caused by the recent ATH and bad news from China. If you are investing for long term, it would be best if you could make yourself busy in the coming days as this will be very hard for you if you'll gonna check your portfolio every now and then. Distract yourself with other activities and just HODL. Checking your portfolio from time to time usually makes you to panic sell at a loss and you don't want this to happen. Stay cool and buy more BTC.

Bitcoin is never off bearish market from last 3 years. Yeah, there were some downward deflections like one at present but all of 'em were due to temporary reasons. For future, I can ascertain bear will last till moon!! Currently demand for Bitcoins  has made trade in India at +$1000 premium. Prices are currently around $5000 here. Trend gonna come in other countries coming soon.Wink
And for second question, well that's your private concern. No comments Cheesy

bear market never started to want to last!

it was a correction followed by a FUD dump that got out of hand and turned out to be big. and as soon as the bottom was reached the price reversed and it came back up to normal levels that were supposed to be the bottom of the correction.

this process is not a "bear market". it is just bitcoin being bitcoin.

I think we already "survived" the strongest part of the correction. Market cap was down to 137 bln$ and is now over 150 bln$ again  Smiley

To be honest, i still check prices because even in a dump you might make money. Just need a diversive portfolio.

How long do you think the bear market will last?
there never was a bear market to begin with. it was just a dip which lasted a couple of days. and by the time you created this topic it was over for more than 12 hours!

if you really find bitcoin price distracting then it means you have invested more than you can afford to lose. that is not a wise decision. you may need to rethink and start reducing the amount you have put in bitcoin to have a calmer life!

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

It's just minor price correction followed but the negative news coming from China that drove the prices go dive. So we can't really consider this as bearish market. As I look a today, the price is up, going to $4400-$4500 again.

The Chinese news really impacted the price more. Maybe the timing is just bad and that it cause the market to dip very quick. But the dust has settled, people going back to bitcoin again and the weak hands have lost. I'm not affected though by the price diving, I have learn to hodl and keep my wallet away from me. LOL.

What bear market are you talking about?
We are still bullish! No bubble so far Bitcoin. We move up, pretty steep from time to time I admit, and then we dip and cool down. After that we move up again.
Look at the daily or weekly chart in log scale. This is how you want to see a price go up, in a nice staircase pattern!

Decide your intention for bitcoin
If you want to be investor, just hold it as long as possible and your profit grow after 1 year, trust me !
If you prefer active trading ,  I think you stop doing it since it's not your favorite

Bear market has already ended and we are back in bull mode.

I'm not sure though how long we can last in this bull wave, because things are getting quite crazy out here. As we have seen if and when bitcoin is dumped everyone just panics and this creates a chain effect, essentially.

Looking at the price is not a bad thing at all. I mean in all fairness, if you don't look at the price then you won't be able to analyse the market at all. I would suggest though follow the opposite of what the popular opinion seems to be especially in a bubble.

Nobody can predict when will the current bear market can last but as I am seeing it I think Bitcoin is already back in action.  As i am writing this response, in CoinMarketCap the value of Bitcoin has already gone beyond $4,500 and it is doing its rise quietly without so much fanfare. Before we know it, it will already be hovering around $4,800 or $4,900 and can be gathering more inertia to beat the $5,000 mark soon. Time to silence the prophets of doom and gloom this time.

What recently happened with the market was the side-effect of it losing the power after almost tinkering $5,000 and then we got into some dip or correction which was magnified with that news from the Far East banning all the ICOs altogether. But knowing how Bitcoin works and behaves, the recent retreat was not really that surprising at all.

Only newbies will panic and soon they realized how fool they have become. I had been a newbie too and I already learned my lessons...it was costly and I decided never would I do the same thing again.

If china stops putting out negative news then we can continue to grow.

The correction that we have experienced was a very normal market reaction after having increased this much in value. China's ICO announcement has no influence on Bitcoin at all, but instead, it should be something that is centered towards the altcoin market, and then mainly Ethereum. I find it quite funny that if people see the price go up with like 400% till this day, and just be like 'it's cool, but let's hope for more', while if the price is going down 15-20%, people start panicking and talk about bear markets. It shows that even till this day, people don't understand this market at all. In order to move forward, we have to experience these level of corrections - it allows sub $2000 guys to cash out, where these coins get bought up by people entering the market at +$4000 levels. The sooner these sub $2000 guys cash out, the sooner we'll be able to move forward.

The adjustment had to come, sooner or later. With or without China banning ICO.

It has already ended but, i have this horrible gut feeling that after this pump that could potentially get us over the all time high and finally over the $5000 hurdle this may be the end of bull markets for a while. Question is really is how high and how long this current pump/recovery can go on for?

That could mean a start of a long-lasting bear market that could stretch out for months. Hopefully this doesn't happen but usually after pumps we see people seem uninterested in bitcoin for quite a while, and the price just stagnates.

Here I don't think that much fluctuations of high/down that is looking by your mind because to get fluctuations in the price of the bitcoin of about $ 100 to 200$ is a usual thing , so instead to get think much about the bitcoin stability , you should think in logical and positive way .
Here my suggestion for you to avoid about the price of the bitcoin that is getting fluctuate in these days more . Because this is natural thing and we should work for the ideal trading , I means to say that with this big fluctuations you should buy at low price and sell at high price with small small amounts , in this way you can get better profit even in these much volatile situations .
And if you want buy bitcoin then i will suggest you to buy in small small amounts with every 100$ fluctuations , because such types of buy of the bitcoin amount is a better way to remain in touch with the market of the bitcoin current price.
