Hi  everyone, I am new in to the world of Cryptocurrency trading and i need some basic advises.Me and a friend of mine are going to invest 5000$. We read a lot about blockchain technology and we believe that this is the future. We are reading from a couple of days the forum and we believe that this is the right platform to get the right answers.

- Could you recommend the best websites for the latest and accurate news
- Could you recommend some sources  for trading strategies
- Is coinmarketcap good for watching the day-to-day situation with the coins
- If i am looking  at a  specific altcoin what is the best way for the latest news, from their own website by following them for the latest news or there are websites that could give me this information.
- What is the best way to see if an altcoin could be a scam or could be a perspective one , only by my opinion if i do not believe in their technology, team or idea or there are other sources.
- Do you think that this kind of strategy is good -  50% solid coins like bitcoin, eth, monero, and others in top 5- 30% perspective ones like waves and 20% in risky but with the potential of making big margin.

Sorry if this topic should be post somewhere else in the forum

here on bitcointalk is a good resource, also check out reddit, theres subreddits for cryptocurrency, bitcoin, monero etc.

go to tradingview.com for charts

coinmarketcap is good, u can also download blockfolio app and u can add which coins u have and see how it fluctuates daily

bitcoin and monero are both solid choices, they will do well long term.

I think you have already done a good study.
Bitcointalk is a good source for new coins.
You also need a good app for coin charts&news, forgive me I use the app in our own country that's maybe not available to you.
Coinmarketcap.com is a good website, most people use it.
And for the investment strategy, I invest about 60% to ETC and BCC,and will hold them for long term. 20% for other coins such as deeponion,0x,okcash.. and the rest 20% for new ICO project. ICO is risky, I'm considering reduce the investment.
Sorry bro, I'm also a new one in crypto, just try to give some advise although they're maybe not that helpful, but that's what I'm doing now.

I give my own opinion to you from your different questions.
1. Best website for the latest and accurate news - For me the legitimate and accurate site and no FUD news is Cointelegraph, This website is giving news about cryptocurrency everyday and what are the speculations on Bitcoins, Eth, Bch and other legit altcoins.

2. For source of trading strategies - Just watch youtube and look on how to read candlesticks on altcoin trading, Altcoin trading basics guide.

3. Coinmarketcap is the best site to look on what happen on alts value everyday and to look for some informations of altcoins.

4. I think better to look at their own website and what their incoming projects because if you look on other websites like forums it is free to comment and so many people giving fud news to scare investors.

5. Altcoin that are not on the top 50 list on coinmarket are risky to invest do some research first better to invest on coin that on the top 20 list.

6. That strategy is good but i suggest to you put 40% on Waves and 10% for risky investment.

There is a lot of news on twitter, try to find some good traders and follow them, find some crypto news accounts too. Youtube is great for learning here is a few https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfNYmXkCfOs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgSaffAnk6g https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOBxM0AORW9BCj2rSuR6HBg https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdaJtMEVnuhTXSsSwA93sGA
And check out world crypto network for daily news https://www.youtube.com/user/WorldCryptoNetwork
Then there are blog sites like https://btcmanager.com/ https://www.coindesk.com, search on steemit and medium for articles. Look at peoples ideas on tradingview. Remember there are a lot of shills out there, trying to get you to pump their coin, don't just buy because someone says it's the greatest thing.
To tell if it's a scam read on the ANN page here on bitcointalk, and in altcoin discussion. Visit their slack, look on their webpage research the actual people involved.

I think it's a good idea to stay 50% in bitcoin. But I wouldn't recommend Eth and Monero. I'm just not sure how much more growth they have in them. For greater profits you need to find some solid projects you like that are still low, starting out, like zencash, stratis, ubiq, waves. In a year or two these could be worth more than what Eth is now.

@nashap. It might be better for you and your friend to start with something smaller. The cryptocoin market is among the most unpredictable in the world because the market is still immature and many of the traders are inexperienced.

Tell your friend to start with 1/4 of your original amount intended to gamble in the cryptomarket.

If you and your friend intend to invest somewhat around hundred thousand bucks into crypto, then $5,000 seems to be a good start. You guys should be through some corrections/crashes before invest most of your fund.

Besides, I got 3 recommendations {just my 2 satoshis}:

1. Don't ever go all in aka diversification;
2. Buy slow, sell slow;
3. Buy low, sell high {Really? Yes, I'm serious}.

1. Cryptocoinnews.com, cointelegraph.com and google news for the term "bitcoin"
2. Read the Altcoin Discussion and Speculation sections of the BCT forum and get ideas from the finest minds in crypto
3. Yes, but you are better off looking at real time prices from Kraken or Bittrex, since coinmarketcap may have a delay
4. Always go to their website and find any official blogs/updates and also visit the ANN section on BCT https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0
5. Read everything you can on the BCT forum, and also do google searches "scam YourFavoriteCoin" and see what you find
6. Yes, it sounds reasonable 30% to 60% in BTC, ETH, XMR, LTC, NEM and smaller weightings to smaller more risky names
