Hi all,

I just built myself a new mining rig but it seems I have a problem. If I want to turn on the rig it just shuts off the main fuse of my living room.
Specs:
-1000W triathlor ECO (PSU)
-GA-MA770T-UD3 (Mainboard)
-AMD PHENOM II X4 955 Black edition (CPU)
-ZOTAC GEEFORCE GTX 1070
-HDD 500GB
-2GB RAM

Now this part works. I already installed windows on it, and has no problems running.

BUT if i want to add another GPU (same 1070 as mentioned above) with a pcie 1x to 16x converter it just shuts off the main fuse in my living room.

Currently the whole rig is on a wood furniture and im turning it on with the screwdriver method. I have checked all cables they fit and are connected. What could be the problem? Where should I start trouble shooting?

Thanks!

Just for kicks, get a vacuum cleaner, blow dryer, or blender (preferably around 500W-1kW), unplug your mining rig, and plug that device into the exact outlet where your rig was plugged in. Then turn it on for a while and see what happens.

If that fails and you don't have much else on the same circuit (were you using kitchen appliances or whatnot off the same circuit?) then you might have an issue with your breakers or fuses, or have some other wiring issue.

If you remove the second 1070, does it work normally?

What if you put the first 1070, in the same slot, but connected through the riser? (Just to make sure that the riser can work.)

So,

First I tried a simple "try it again", main fuse got shot down again...

And answers to your questions:

Yes it works.

I tried removing the GPU from the 16x PCIe and plugged in the GPU to the 16x PCIe with the riser 1x to 16x, now the windows booted ,and it works.

Seems like it does not like to have two GPUs?

Nope, It doesn't get to the BIOS. If I turn the PC on it has just a black screen.

im not familiar with your mobo bios , but there is any kind of settings like you can change pci-e gen 1, 2, 3 in bios
also 2GB RAM memory can be a problem ,if you can try to use at least 4GB RAM

The only option I have seen in the bios containing the word "pci-e" is I can change the pci-e clock speed. Nothing else unfortunately.

Im picking up some additional ram in about 1.5hours (another 4gb) ,I'll try it with that.

Have you tried to use other PSU, sometimes it is also the culprit, I dont see any prob with the system board as it boots with single GPU.

There's some issues on windows 10 as many reported, maybe you can try Windows 7. I run miners program on Windows 7 without any issues.
Also, do check if there's some shoulder issues on the risers, I've read that sometimes it was caused by bad shouldering.

SO,
I have installed another 4gb of RAM. I manage to get in to windows with the two GPUs attached (both of them with 1x to 16x raisers).

But ,
Strangely the MOBO image dissapeared (not sure what they are called ,but its that image you see usually when you turn on your pc ,and it has the mainboard name on with some other information.)

Im going to try to mine something with them. Lets see what happens.

About the fuse, I have no idea...sometimes it happens sometimes it does not. What should I look out for? I assume the raisers shouldn't touch any metal?

Thanks!

Not seeing the motherboard image is likely because you have the monitor connected to whatever isn't set as default primary in bios.

Have someone test your plug with a tester that goes into the plug and checks if it has an earth leakage etc. This can cause the issue that you mention intermittently. Doubt a 2 GPU rig will draw so much power as to trip a circuit breaker or a fuse.
If the plug is perfect it could be a faulty PSU.

The mobo image appearing can be set in the BIOS to display or not. nothing to do with the power issue.

Just test the rig in another room in the house and see if it does the same.
