Sorry for off topic guys but there's no tech section in altcoins and I don't know where else to ask. I'm trying to learn how qt wallets work and what strings in .conf file are doing what, where car I read or ask about this? In the example below I only figured out port, name and password for solo mining, but what are other strings for?

irc=1
dns=1
qtstyle=2
daemon=1
server=1
stakegen=1
logtimestamps=1
minersleep=2000
stakemindepth=1000
stakemintime=72
stakecombine=40
stakesplit=80
port=15298
rpcport=15299
rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=password

Generally... the options in the .conf file will relate directly to a commandline argument for the client... The Bitcoin Core ones are here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Running_Bitcoin#Command-line_arguments

However, given this is an altcoin, a lot of these arguments seem to be altcoin specific... They're certainly not from the Bitcoin Core client Wink

Your best bet is to contact the developers of the altcoin you're dealing with and ask them directly... If they have an [ANN] (annoucement) thread for their coin in the altcoins section, ask there... or maybe if they have a github repo for their coin, maybe check the documentation there and/or open an "issue" on their github and ask for assistance there.

I guess he was asking without any particular coin in mind. QT wallet is a common wallet for tons of altcoins so understanding its confid helps a lot, where to find this info is a question though...

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. I found brief descriptions for most config lines but no place to learn what and how it affects if you, for instance, change the value of -xxx parameter. Like what happens if you change something that sets min block size etc.

Like I said... just because an altcoin is forked from Bitcoin Core/QT, doesn't mean that it's config options do the same thing as the original client. It also doesn't mean that the same parameter will do the same thing in different altcoin clients.

The devs may have changed the underlying code that utilises a parameter... the coin algorithms may be completely different... the parameter may do nothing at all and be completely ignored/commented out code...

All we can say is that values in the *.conf file should have a matching -xxxx commandline parameter... but what these are and what they do is likely to be specific to any given implementation. Without a more specific question (ie. I found this parameter X for Altcoin Y... what does it do?) there isn't much more info we can give...

Your best bet lies with the coin creators... or their codebase and hope they've commented the code and/or created some decent documentation.
