Only 210 Watts from my mining rig?!

I just finished setting up my mining rig with a couple 1060s and a 1070. I have the Asrock Pro BTC R2 motherboard with Seasonic 860 WATTS Platinum PSU. Everything is plugged in, but according to my Kill A Watt it's only pulling 210 watts? Is that normal? I was expecting a bit more power usage.

ps- all my cards are clocked at +152 core, +707 memory, 77% power limit.

how many 1060's and 1070's? no its not normal when you have more than two GPU and when mining, can you give your hashrates? I am thinking that it is not mining at all or you have a faulty meter.

You are right, I have a couple of 1060s and one 1070 but my 1070 is only giving me 100 h/s while my 1060 is giving my 225 h/s at base clock. What could be the problem?

You have to undervolt the 1060 quite a lot to achieve that.

Are you mining Zec? check your drivers, I use EWBF for mining Zec, 1070 could go at least 400 h/s and go higher and 1060 at least 200 h/s

Make sure your cards are actually mining efficiently, redownload your drivers, use a different miner first to check on things and if it works ok you can try a different version of the miner you're on now

I think you have missed something on your configuration. You can check your hashrate and compare to other miners.
Did you underclock your GPU? If so, there's possibilities but not 200W in any way. Maybe 300-400W.

Are you mining Zec? check your drivers, I use EWBF for mining Zec, 1070 could go at least 400 h/s and go higher and 1060 at least 200 h/s

No, I am mining some recently released shizzcoin through ccminer. It's weird tho that my 1070 is giving me half of the performance of what my other two 1060s are giving when it should be the other way around. I re-installed the latest driver from Nvidia but still, it's the same thing. Is there any other specific driver I need to download too?

I see, I guess this has something to do with the coin you are mining, every coin has different algo and could be go high hashrates on a lower end GPU's, try to mine zec if you could achieve the desired hash then there's nothing wrong with your drivers, and also with your wattage due to low hashing power attained.

60% tdp hashrate is around 22.5-23Mh each on eth and 110hs pasc dual mining.

well it's quite a small wattage you have here, something is wrong!
according to my observation for my cards GTX1060 6GB with 80PL +175 core - 502memory eats about 92-95W
and GTX 1070 8GB with PL 85 +130 core -502 memory easily soaps about 135-140W

so, let's assume the other thing you have like CPU, HDD and so on, eats about 150W in totall

and if we summarize everything we comes to this figures : 150W for system + 2x95W for 1060 and 140W for 1070

here we are,  your system has to consume about = 470-480W, but nor 210W!!
something wrong here, and what about performance wise? what is your has-rates while mining ZEC, for example?

Are you using the 1070 for your monitor?

To clarify, you have a 1070 and two 1060s?

Just for kicks, try using EWBF's miner for Zcash and point it to some ZEC pool for a bit, then tell us what your hashrates are on equihash. (It's easier to tell us about your hashrates when we're aware of the algorithm in use.)

Open a shell and run nvidia-smi. It will tell you if all the GPUs are active. (I'm going to guess that only one of the GPUs is actually doing anything.)

There must be something wrong here. Overclocking my 1060s gets me at least 300 h/s with zcash using EWBF's miner.
So the 1070s must be higher.

Check if you have the latest drivers of the graphics cards and use the latest drivers for ewbf for zcash and claymore for ether.

Alright, so I installed the EWBF Miner and started mining Zcash.

My hashrate on base clock is 430 sol/s on my 1070. And 302 sol/s on my 6GB 1060 and 275 sol/s on my 3GB 1060.

It's pulling 437 watts out of the wall.

Everything seems normal now ha.


Switched back to mining my other shizzcoin which has the "cryptonight" algorithm, over there my 1070 is only giving 95 h/s on base. And not only that, my overall system wattage dropped to the 200s again. Hmmm.

Cryptonight algorithm doesn't like 1070s?

No, you must have more or less 500 h/s in 1070 for Cryptonight, try to overclock/underclock  and miner app must be tweaked eg. intensities, however, are you mining for profit? if yes, then you can check http://whattomine.com on which profitable coin to their list, Cryptonight is not as profitable compared  Zec  for 1070.

Using the latest release ccminer, tweaking the miner app is some next level stuff that I've never even heard of lol. And no, I am just new coin hopping here and there as they get announced on the forum. What overclock/underclock settings do you recommend for the 1070?
