Im running 2 6970's in my computer. I was wondering if there is a way to keep one mining and use 1 for gaming. is there any way to set games to run on the one card?

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

It really depends on the game (some allow you to select a specific card) but usually they will default to display 0.  Just mine on your second card.
