Depending on experience. There are many coins out there which are not promising. If you got one of them sell your coin as soon as possible. If you have some good quality coin, like btc, eth, neo, bch then you can hold it for long time for good profits.

It depends a lot on the potential of the coin that im holding, some coins i hold for months, because some major updates will come in future. Some altcoins i trade on daily basis, because they just pump and dump - for example DENT coin is the best coin to trade in this way.

Because of tax reasons I am forced to hold most of my coins longer than one year. After that year they are tax free. This is often very complicated and annoying, because you want to sell the hype, but can't because you wold have to pay 50%!!! taxes for your wins.

Don't trust any exchange!

This is a very tricky question to answer and a rather complicated one as each coin or token has a different utility and project behind it. Also some coins nose dive for good and to hold those would be a great calamity, so now I try to look for coins that have potential not only for bigger long term returns but that also give a reward for holding or passive income type element to them. I think this strategy suits me best because I am near pensionable age but without a decent pension to look forward to.

Depends on the coin. We have some coins that we pre mined in the first days of their announcements and some of those are a year old or more. The wallets take up nearly no space and we run through a spreadsheet we have of them and cross reference versus the markets every other day. I think that a year is about max for that, but it depends on the action on the forums, the exchanges and others things.
Regarding what you said about coins you premined. Are there websites that are giving or announcing currency that is about to launch?

Hello, tokenmarket and icotracker web sites are one of those web sites showing an ico calendar to you.

I'll hold my coins for 10 years if they don't die. I know it's a long time, but if I can achieve this, I can make huge profit at the end.
But if that coin cannot live until that time, do you have any plans for solve this problems? Because even Bitcoin still cannot determine, your token also does not has opportunity for long term like your said!

Well it depends on the kind of investment you are doing. If i'm doing a long term investment i can wait months for coin to reach it's peak. As for short term you should be able buy & sell asap to make profit.

My strategy is long term - minimum 1 year.
I am trying to follow this rule of investment:
"Do not invest amount which you are afraid to loose".

I try to pick coins that I think will have a long shelf life. I don't want to pick up a shit coin / or even a good coin to try to flip it for a quick buck. For me I will hold a coin at least 1 year.

Nice, strategy. I usually hold my coins until I see a profit in it. So when I hold coins it doesn’t really matter how many days or years go by, it only depends on the numbers being over my deposited amount.
Bitcoin is one of the coins that I’ve been holding for years and didn’t really worry on the price because it could be worth something more than just fiat. The longest that I’ve held an Altcoin was around 2 or 3 years and I eventually forgot about it for some time. I have coins that are older than that though I don’t really want to sell them.

Depending on the coin and if I really believe in it. But in most of the cases I will never hold if it goes lower than its previous recorded lowest price. After this point you don't know where the support is, so maybe it is better to take the loss and move on.

Yes depending on the coin because there are different projects of every coins that makes it more valuable and demanded in the market and it is good to make a research first in the coin so that you are trusted to make it long-term.

it depands how you treat with the coins, if you like this coin and get it at a low cost, i think you may hold it for a long term, but if you just want to day trade, then you better sell it at your expected profit

There are two ways. Some have already a term before they buy a certain coin. They may set it at 6 months according to the roadmap, or a coming update, or a big announcement. Some are setting it indefinitely until the value goes really high. That is applicable to ETH or BTC. Some are also set for 3 months or 1 to 3 years.

it depends on coin, market value.when profit is enough, see it.because anytime price will be up down. so don't wait for huge profit.

There is no definite time as to how long one should hold on to its coin. When you are trading, the amount of time in holding your coin depends on the market value. Before you trade, you must have enough knowledge about it. And when you trade, you must observe the changes on the value of a certain coin before you sell it. When you see that you can gain enough profit or the increase in value is good, then sell it. Don't wait too long since there is a possibility its value will suddenly dive down and instead of gaining some profit, you might lose it.
