The Bitcoin Arena: Switzerland has a New CryptoPolis

Beginning January 2018, Chiasso, Switzerland will allow its citizens to pay taxes in Bitcoin, following the lead of Zug.

This news came earlier today thanks to an executive note published by the municipality of Chiasso. The city likely aims to surpass its rival Zug, also known as the CryptoValley, by accepting Bitcoin as a method of payments for taxes for a value of up to 250 CHF, versus the 200 CHF limit imposed by Zug.

As you can read in the official note, the Chiasso Mayor met a group of local entrepreneurs who have chosen this border town to locate their businesses. These entrepreneurs include the Digital Identity team, in the person of Natale Ferrara, Andrea Benetton, Paolo Barrai.

This is not surprising at all since Switzerland and Bitcoin can be synonymous in terms of banking secrecy for the former and semi-anonymous transactions for the latter. I am sure that this country can be so friendly to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. I am hoping that soon Switzerland can be the best hub for Bitcoin and cryptocurrency as we need more and more countries embracing Bitcoin to replace what we can lost in China which is closing its doors to digital currencies.

Agree. And they are not safe haven as well for big time investors in bitcoin. Its no surprise actually because they are very secretive specially in their banking system. That's why I don't know why is USA suddenly meddling with Switzerland and requiring them to open some bank accounts of suspecting terrorist. I'm not really sure though it they comply because I haven't seen any update as of lately. I'm sure a lot of bitcoin enthusiast will fine this news welcoming specially those who have big amounts invested in bitcoin.
