Why do people kill for religion?

It's an excuse, no religion will force you to do something like that and I've seen no doctrine that will ask you to start war, terrorism and killings. As far as I know it's all staged, paid by the wealthy people who wants to create turmoil for their own benefit.

That's the thing. It differs from one's understanding of religion. For me, i believe religion should actually make lives better and us live together in peace. For others, they see those that doesn't share their religion as hostile to them. I don't think its that way. The world is too big and diverse to have only one culture and respect is what we need to practice

It is important to stress the point that people don't kill for religion. Terrorists groups like ISIS, Boko Haram et al use religion as a cover to perpetrate their evil acts. This is because they know that religion appeals to primordial sentiments and they can easily get the sympathy of the adherents of the religion and the followers of the God they claim to be killing for. It is ridiculous and laughable to say they kill for religion because the major known religions preaches peace and condemns taking human life for no just cause. It is a twisted narrative to say that they are killing for religion.

No, I do not believe that people kill people for their Creator and religion. Actually those who claim it are hypocrites. They used religion as a shield. They are involved in terrorism. I believe that any religion is not bad, using it to commit crime. In any religion it is not said that people have to kill. Religion teaches everyone how to help people, love them, do good things, etc. Religion has not taught anyone to kill.

Regardless whatever religion it may be, killing should never be encouraged for whatever reason. We are all humans and we are all creations of the God Almighty and we all should be treated equal. Respect one another, live and let live and of course, for all religions, to each his own. No religion should be arrogant enough to say that theirs is the best and unbelievers should be killed. Totally ridiculous, absurd and hilarious.  Actually they are just using their religion to validate their bad intentions.  They are quoting quotes from their scripture about legal killing which actually a non-sense.  They are just a bunch of lunatics and will kill to satisfy themselves.

Too true. It just doesn't focus on Islam but through all religions throughout history has a record of killing for the religion. I think it's more of extremists reading their doctrine and misunderstanding what the actual message of the doctrine. The religion itself is not at fault, mainly the execution the in the mind of these extremists.
