Why do people kill for religion?

I assume because of the eagerness to destroy. Eagerness ko kill. Eagerness to avenge their family line. To show what they can do in terms of sacrificial of life just to do the job. The mind of those people are full of hatred. Their heart is full of evil just to do the killing. Religion is their life.

This is the most common problem in religion, I believe. Notice that in every religion that there is, they all have some written scriptures or rules about the teachings of their respective religion. Now, here comes the problem, most of the context their are really old and cannot be exactly interpreted based from who wrote them. That is why there is a misunderstanding, that could sometimes lead to killing.

Have you ever thought why the adherents of the eastern religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, Shintoism, Taoism.etc) almost never engage in religion-based fighting, while those who believe in the western religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam.etc) are more prone to violence? Scriptures are there in both the groups. So what is the difference?

I think there is corruption somewhere.  Once that happens to a system (religion) people are manipulated to go along with things they shouldn't slowly escalating and once in a croud and brainwashing has started it is hard to break out.  Some or all will have mental health issues before, and the corrupt take advantage (or they are looking for excuse to kill).

But it is about power for the few mostly.

But in my religion, we will not kill or disturb other religion if they don't disturb us.
We respect each others,
If they begin to dusturb us first or ask us to war, we will do it.
We do it becuase we try to keep our religion and dont want them stand on us arrogantly.

People who kill for their religion are not true believers, they are pretenders. They don't have the real sense of love and compassion on their beliefs. Religion teaches us to be kindhearted, humble, peace loving and not to commit sins.. Those people who kills other people for religion are evil doers who doesnt believe in their religious teachings.

I'm thinking that it's not just one particular religion. Remember at least the crusades! All religions of the world are distinguished by one unpleasant fact - they all zombify a person, making him either a weapon in someone's hands, or a subject of earnings. Any religion is based not on facts, but on the spiritual component, so it is very easy for even an inexperienced speaker to zombify a person. Suffice it to recall sins, the coming death and hell, and everything - a person begins to think on this topic more and more until he falls into despair. And then he is offered salvation only for the performance of some "charitable" actions.

I was told Islamic religion permit believers to kill any one who is against their religion , in what they called Jihad. But People who kill because of religion has already commit sin and I don't believe they will be forgiven by their maker

I think that is absurd. I do not get why they are calling it as holy that they kill other people just because it is against their faith. They think of it as it is the will of God. That they are fighting for God.

Religion in itself is a peaceful idea I think.
However, there have always been people abusing it for their own causes to gain power and/or money by virtually brainwashing followers with their own interpretation of the religion.

It is so disheartening to hear that people kill their fellow human beings in the name of religion. What kind of religious teaching will tell people to kill because a reward awaits them, there is no truth it. I think they kill their fellow human being because they believe by so doing some sort of rewards awaits them.

I guess religious terrorist are just twisted by leader, I don't think there is a religion exist to hurt other people all they teach is good for me it's just that some educated people are changing its meaning and will pass on to their members just to create some havoc for their own interest.

Killing people is prohibited in every religion. People who kill another people for religion reason is non sense. They just force their belief and miss understanding about their religion. I absolutely disagree to this cruel action.
