Why do people kill for religion?

I think there are bad guys who abuse religion to do bad things. religion teaches us good things, is firm support for morality. But some people are too religious to be used to kill people, terrorists

Sometimes this reasoning is only used just for them to fully do their bad intention. But, in some cases where someone was involved in killing the reason behind this perhaps is to protect their belief or in other words they felt insulted to what other people say about their religion. Religion basically teaches good things, to shape people's morale. To limit lust, respect others, etc...
Those who commit crime, insult, slander, even killing others are the one who uses religion as the shield. They keep their misinterpretation about the doctrine and try to influence and persuade others to have the mind like them. So, religion is not bad, the few people who use it to commit crime are the guilty one.

In my opinion, that is the Islamic state organization called IS. This organization is becoming a major issue in the world. They kill people in a barbaric manner, perform terrorism, post killer clips, terrorist pictures, most recently a terrorist picture of the world cup

There are both good and bad things about religion. For example, take the case of Islam. There are a lot of good things in Islam, such as the punishment for adultery and prohibition of alcohol. But we need to remember that there are bad things as well. For example, in Islam apostasy is punishable by death, and so is homosexuality and blasphemy.

I guess they just want to make a statement regarding the teachings of their religion. It is also a factor if they had misunderstood the teachings that their religion imposes to them. This is why we shouldn't blame the religion itself but the misunderstanding of the people.

People kill for religion because they are not able to think, it is like fighting for peace, and unfortunately this kind of people are very easy to manipulate so as long as it is involved hurting others it can't be called an religion.

That's all bullshit. No religion will ask you to take an innocent life just for them. These are believes created by the media to drive fear in us so that they could control us.

It's just that people are territorial too. They think that only their religion will be saved by God, or they think that they are superior in terms of faith. Which is ridiculous, each of us are given a blessing of life and other religions should respect that we are all equal in the eye of God.

The ISIS terrorists will kill you if you dare to criticize their religion. They will slander all the other religions by saying that Jesus is the son of a whore and Hindus are worshiping monkeys. But if someone try to criticize the prophet or some of the verses in Quran, then the unfortunate person may be at least maimed if not killed outright. Check this:

I think god if he exists doesn't want us to annihilate each other. If he created us it means he wants us to survive.
People who look to justify their killing are worse than animals. They want to kill, they like it, but they need a way to calm their conscience. I piti them for not having some real goals in life, being unable to create anything, and unable to coexist with others.

I agree. God created us to be united as well. We are all His Daughters and Sons I highly believe as well and I don't think by killings never pleases Him just to justify which religion must be followed. I really don't see why people do that.

I have been involved in both wars and revolutions. Seen both good and bad things done; BUT what drives me to a rage, is when these poor girls that were taken captive by ISIS, enslaved, raped, traded, sold, degraded, and more, are finally freed and return to their families, are then  killed or driven away by there own family members because they have dis-honored the name of the family.

 This not isolated, but common in may parts of the world.
